Did you swap out the tired old flathead, trans and rearend? 1) Log here what you put in and 2) what was the biggest challenge?

My own question is have you ever mounted a 390 in one and a 300 6 cylinder. I'm having trouble finding good info on that. I know someone selling a f100 truck with a 390-4 speed as a possible donor vehicle. Thanks in advance!

Do a bit of searching here, you will find many in members build threads. If you are looking at these engines because they are 'cheap', realize that they could cost you a lot more in the long run if they need repairs or rebuilding. I looked into doing a 300 6 in my 51, but that motor is a lot longer than the flathead. Here's a discussion about engine choice with some good feedback.

Swapped both trucks to Chevy LT1s with T56 6 speeds. One 350 one 383. Install is the same for any engine, set in place keeping in mind clearances at the cab, steering, exhaust, radiator, and drive line angle. Once all is good with that make up the engine and trans mounts. No issues, I try to take all variables into account before making mounts.

I think you also need to think about other improvements at this time... Do you want a IFS or Toyota steering box? this is a good time to do these...

Great info! Keep it coming on the swaps. I assume a center dump block hugger header or manifold works the best because of the location of the stock steering box? For chevy that would be a rams horn manifold?
