My 2011 5.0 is knocking in the lower end

My 2011 F-150 5.0 L engine has 76,000 miles on it. I have used Pennzoil Platinum from first oil change. I run premium fuel 100%. I noticed 7 months back that the oil was low by three quarts due to checking it when the knock started. I thought the kwik lube joint made a mistake. They gave me a new oil change at no charge. 3000 miles later its down three quarts again. Knock sounds like a main or rod bearing deep in the engine. Dealer tells me that burning one quart per 1000 miles is normal. Really!!!!
Taking it in next Monday, but already feel that things are not going to go well after what I have read and his oil usage comment. Suggestions Crystal or anyone?

If the manual states to check oil every fillup or something, they cant be held liable for it running low. Doesnt the 5.0 use like 7 quarts though? so being down 3 shouldnt hurt anything I would think.

Check your PCV system, the oil could be getting pulled through that and burnt.

Hopefully it's not a knock since you obviously maintain it very well. Perhaps an exhaust manifold or pipe leak is sounding like a knock?

if 7 quarts.. 3 quarts missing will not cause the problem.

the gauge/light should display before damage 99 percent of the time.

the local quick lube near my home.. several times oil down the main street...
loose oil filters... loose drain plug... and falling out 2 blocks down..

do not trust others for your need to check the oil regularly.. your Job.. my opinion.
every 2 weeks, or once a month...

My Mustang takes 8 qts. using a quart every 1000 miles would mean you'd almost be empty at their recommended mileage change'
