I'm looking at truck and it has been repainted so the door plate is gone. It had a metal tag in the glove box.


Can someone decode it?

Axxxxx = NUMERICAL SEQUENCE OF ASSEMBLY (which means it was the XX,XXXth model year 1984 truck built; the A would be a B if they had already built 99,999 of them.

I can't find anything in the book that would explain your metal tag, the stuff on it doesn't fit any for nomenclature I can find.

Being I had my camera out this is the tag that was in the glovebox.

This will be my racecar hauler with my open tag for now. I know it won't be overloaded for now.
Is there another place to look for information?
The door tag is missing because of repaint.
This is what I need:
GAWR FRONT AND REAR.
GVWR.
GCWR.


I think I going to stretch the frame and build a ramp body on the back. I just want to make sure I'm not overloading then.

That part of the mystery solved thanks. I have the card to it in my owners guide.


Now if I can just figure out the rest.

Looks to me like a W352, from the Warranty Identification Card, is an F350 chassis and cab with a 9200# GVW.

 

The warranty sticker still might be on the door pillar or the door itself. Just covered with paint.

 

I went back out there and looked and it is all smoothe on the door and the pillar. Since its a CC I even looked on the back door. No tag at all.


My biggest concern is the DOT weighing each axle and then they dont have nothing to compare their weights too. What will they do then. I'm not worried about SC so much, but I race in GA, NC, VA, and Maryland too, so I want to keep down the hassels.


Anyone ever been stopped and weighed with a f350? .........ron

 

Why can't you use the warranty tag, which shows the W352, and the page from the catalog. I might be able to find the front and rear axle ratings for that GVWR if need be.

Or, are you saying that it isn't a "Chassis and Cab" as the catalog says? If that's true then they might not believe you.

 

Now if this is a crew cab , the W352 doesn't match. Can you get the VIN off the dash? Might want to pass on this. I looked at a "86" CC F350 once. Could not find a warranty tag anywhere. And, the cab, dash,and front end indicated 87-91 style. Passed on that one.

In answer to your other question, I've traveled NY-VA even into NC with my F250 and car trailer (loaded) (sometimes with the backhoe) and never had DOT stop me. Pulled into a weigh station once for kicks, and was told I didn't have to. Most of the travel was along I81.
