2016 Pismo Beach GTG

Hello all,

It is that time once again, to make plans for the annual Nor Cal/So Cal "Sand in your Pants" Pismo Peach get together. It will be the weekend after the Super Bowl which is February 13th and 14th. I usually stay overnight and leave on Sunday, but that is up to you. It is $6 for a day pass, and $10 for an overnight pass. It will be a family event, so bring the wife and kids, and most likely it will be cold and windy, although we have had decent weather there a couple of times.

We did not have one last February due to lack of interest, so I am hoping we can get enough people wanting to go, and able to make the long trek down to make this a fun event. Unfortunately, there will be no high flying antics by me in a Bronco as I have sold that.

I am looking for a cheap truck to buy off of Craigslist I can take down to this event because it is a lot of fun. If I cannot find one, maybe I can get a ride from a Nor Cal member who is going, or worst case scenario, drive the Thunderbird down, and rent a U-Haul truck in the local city.

In the past we have asked that you bring enough food and drinks for your party as well as an item for the entire group. Like one person bring chips and condiments, the other bring hot dog and hamburger buns etc. I will have the sign in post after this one so when you cut and paste your name into it, you don't get the Bronco pic.

Right now that sounds awesome Jim! I've never been to Pismo and getting off into the sand on stock size tires feel like a entertaining level of stupidity. Especially if there is a posse to er, strap me outta the sand.

Work schedule is chaos these days so no idea if I can actually make it, but I'd be staying overnight in a hotel since it's a fer piece from the Bay Area. And IIRC the campsites at the RV park are microscopic.

Aside from the Bronco sales promo got any other pics of the place?

I am sure there will be plenty of members there to haul you out of the sand if need be. I have been to three of them, and only got stuck during my last visit there. Twice if I remember correctly. Both times I was pulled out by a Nor Cal member. (Thanks Stewart LOL).

These are just a small sample of the last gtg there in Feb 2014.

It's been 20 years since I've been on the Pismo dunes. That was a fun place. I remember when the park rangers broke their hummer

Not at all!

I'm trying to get a friend to go with. He's the one in the grey F150 in the above pic. If he does, we will probably split a trailer rental so I don't have to bring my trailer down and break my back with setup, tear down, dump station on Sunday, washing and cleaning the rig on Monday, etc.

If I go, I'll have to park the Thunderbird at the entrance, and hitch a ride with a fellow member. Unable to get a 4x4 in time for the gtg.

One of those got stuck smack dab in the middle of Camp, again thanks Stewart. We may swing in , coming back from Arizona , the only problem is I'll be in dad's Chevy , I guess I can park it over in the next camp over

Well Scott, if you did not have those bald tires, you probably wouldn't have gotten stuck. I have no idea what my excuse is though. LOL

Does anybody know if the park will let me bring in a jet ski? I know sounds weird but I'm hauling dad's truck and my jet ski back from Arizona, I thought I would swing in on my way back home maybe stay the night in town. Don't think I'll drop it in the cold water this time of year
