You don't need to make sure the cam is at the low side; it just means less work to hold the pump when bolting it in.

Cool good to here thanks for info ha super frastaded changed all returns lines fuel pump cooper washers in enjecters.was getting lot of blue smoke after warmed up would clear out on highway but after ideiling at stop sign would blow big cloud of blue then I realized oil was filling up did an oil change thinking was caused by old fuel pump truck cleared up no smoke at all better power for about fifty miles then was smoking after ideiling and oil was filling up now thinking might be in injection pump or injecter might haft to hire diesal macanic to help any info or suggestion at the best place to start helps thanks apreciate it

There is only one way to mix diesel and oil, and that is the lift pump, (fuel pump) When you drained your oil was any water present? (it would come out first when oil plug is removed.) Is there any oil residue in your radiator? Water and oil can mix in several ways. The most common of which is bad oil cooler seals, and that would contribute to your rising oil levels. I won't scare you with the other possible ways of water/oil mixing just yet.

I don't see any signs of oil in water I was told it could possibly be a seal in injecter pump or injecter seal that would be great if some how got falty pump or I missed it up by not having cam positioned write we installing pump also exhaust smells bad and dep stick smells like diesal thanks.
