1985 f 350 6.9 diesal

Any good suggestions on how to track down the reason I'm getting diesal in my oil on 1985 6.9 f350 truck runs good but blowing blue smoke after ideiling.

What makes you think diesel in the oil? Blue smoke could be from excess oil consumption, or poor compression

Oh, in that case... you need to replace the low pressure transfer pump. It's $30 or so, and mounted to the passenger's side of the block, right near the front of the engine.

Pretty hard to do that. Just make sure that the lever goes /under/ the cam shaft. Basically insert the pump at a downward angle, then push up and into place.

You did just fine.
You don't need to make sure the cam is at the low side; it just means less work to hold the pump when bolting it in.

There is only one way to mix diesel and oil, and that is the lift pump, (fuel pump) When you drained your oil was any water present? (it would come out first when oil plug is removed.) Is there any oil residue in your radiator? Water and oil can mix in several ways. The most common of which is bad oil cooler seals, and that would contribute to your rising oil levels. I won't scare you with the other possible ways of water/oil mixing just yet.

I don't see any signs of oil in water I was told it could possibly be a seal in injecter pump or injecter seal that would be great if some how got falty pump or I missed it up by not having cam positioned write we installing pump also exhaust smells bad and dep stick smells like diesal thanks.

Fixed The seal can go out of the injection pump as well, this is what happened to me. Electric lift pump, was a gallon up or better before i caught it.
