SCT X3 Stolen: Bye-Bye Stock Tune
My SCT X3 was stolen and with it went my stock tune. I bought a new X4 but since there is no stock tune I can't get the strategy codes needed to write new custom tunes. I spoke to a local Ford dealership and they said they would also be unable to load a stock tune in the PCM Looks like Ford can't reflash the PCM back to stock
SCT tech support wants me to hook up the X4 to the truck and also hooked up to my laptop so they can see what is going on remotely.
Has anyone had this problem, stock tune gone?
My truck: 2003 F350 6.0L

Yes they are...
They can probably even reload your stock calibration if you know what it is. If I'm right, this might be a good way to get yourself a good PCM/TCM calibration.
PCM: VXAM7N2
TCM: TQAS0NZ
Either way they should be able to get you fixed up.

OOPS. I see 03 and that might cause a hassle for them.
Nope just called and they should be able to load the As-built data into the PCM. It would be like they
have one that is dead and they have to replace it. So I am back to calling that dealer stupid.
But I would go with the guys at SCT first in any case. By any chance did you do a backup of the device?
This should be done any time you get a new device and use it to tune or if you update a tune. That way
you have a stock strategy saved as a backup on your computer.
Good luck not that you will need it with the people at SCT your in good hands with them.
Once you done and back to stock. have them show you how to do a backup of the stock system
and your new tunes.

I found it really odd that they said that they could not do it.
I would ask them how they replace a fried PCM in that case.
This is less work but they still have to do the same programming.
Someone there does not know what they are doing. Maybe some
little out in the sticks dealership?

OK, I got the day off work to be with my truck while the SCT tech guy was on the phone and linked into my X4 while the X4 was linked to my truck. The tech could not load a canned tune into the PCM as the X4 returned an error code 110DE after it saved the "stock" tune (actually a custom tune from Innovative Diesel). The tech told me that I must get Ford to return it to stock.
I called the local Ford dealership in Goffstown, NH and the service manager said they could not do it as they would have the same problem as the SCT tech guy.
I live in southern New Hampshire. Does anyone out there know of a reputable dealership or shop who could load my PCM back to stock? I attached the VIN and PCM decal.

Bill at PHP rolled mine back to that strategy a couple of years ago and it has been fine on my 03.

By the time they got to VXAM7N2, they'd ironed out most if not all of the early issues and it was only a matter of keeping the EPA happy and addressing small issues. Should you opt for VXAM7N2, make sure your EBPS, tube, and fitting at the exhaust manifold are clean and clear. If not, the truck will not boost like it should and will, cough, and sputter due to not getting an accurate EBP reading. A big part of EBPS causing a problem was the fuel back in 2003. It was 500ppm low sulphur diesel and it was "dirty" according to the EPA, but great for power and fuel economy. The only problem was that it would easily clog EGR valves and the EBPS with normal use. With the dry and less potent 15 ppm ULSD of today, this isn't much of a concern. Just make sure your EGR valve (if you still have it) and EBPS, tube, and fitting are clean.
Furthermore, VXAM7N2 yields good fuel economy and power when compared to the later VXAP calibrations.
I'll PM you some more info, gotta take off for an appointment.
