Thoughts on exiting exhaust before tire

So I recently got long tube headers on and honestly am kind of dissapointed it's not louder lol. It's got a magna flow tru Y after the headers. 2.5" in to 3" out then wraps around the tranny pan and then goes to a 2.25" 25 inch thrush glass pack and then back around the tire just like it was when I got the truck. It sounds deep and rumbly now but I was thinking of trying running the pipe right out after the glasspack and possibly changing out to a real muffler. It's honestly not very loud right now at all w pretty much zero drone. Thoughts?

EDIT: on another thought the weird thing is it was catless before and the only thing changed was the headers and the mid pipe and I promise you guys that made the truck quieter for some reason. Deeper but quieter although the glass pack sound is more prominent if that makes sense

I've got long tubes, flowmaster cats, and magnaflow shorties piped out in front of the wheel and I think it sounds great! Not crazy loud when you're cruising but it really lights up when you jump in it.

I have had my exhaust exit before the tire on 2 different obs trucks of mine.

If you don't have to worry about emissions you can do it (here in az it has to exit behind the tire) luckily I don't have emissions.
They look cooler to me than exiting right behind the tire but still duals out the back or 45ed each side looks best.

My 93 F250 460 had no cats into dual glass packs exiting duals before the tire it sounded good but when you got over 3000 rpms it was way to loud.

My current 92 f150 300 i6 comes off the manifold into dual cats no muffler and exits before the tire. It sounds decent for a 6cyl however it is not that loud at all my 88 302 with no cat into stuck muffler exiting after the tire is louder. On my 92 I plan to delete the cats and install a glass pack hopefully that will make it louder.

I would love to do duels but I've already spent enough on exhaust to make it duel now. Lol on the way too loud when you get in it. Yeah I don't want that for sure but duels are always going to be louder everything else the same. It may be louder way back there more than I think. Btw I doubt we have to have a rear exiting exhaust so don't know if that is a law but I don't have emissions on anything older than a 1996. My truck is a 351 so that to me would be quieter than a 460. Can't beat the sound of a nice big block even Chevys lol.

Both my '92's, 300, 302, exit Before the rear passenger tire. I hated the end of the bed exit or behind the tire look.

Sounds like you guys are gonna convince me to change it. The kind of sad thing is when I got the truck it was completely stock on the exhaust and clutch fan in place. Sometimes I wished I would have never touched it but I do like a good sounding exhaust

Really? Never heard that before. Do you have a link to the specific law?

Give it some time for the glass packs to break in, to get louder, too.

didn't one of the F150's come from the factory with side pipes in the early 2000's?

Well as far as az goes you can in fact have the exhaust in front of the rear tire. Just did emissions on the truck last week and passed with flying colors. Doubt it's different any where else.

Really want to see a picture of your truck, David. Loving the look of primer body with new tires, shiny wheels, and exhaust tips. Works in AZ, but probably wouldn't last long here in Virginia. Haven't seen the sun in almost a week.

As for exhaust exits, I think the law in most places is that it's ok if the exhaust exits behind the cab of the truck, as shown in the picture above.

PS When did they start building in San Tan? Didn't remember much there between Queen Creek and Florence back when I left.

As i was building my custom exhaust on my 91 today, i was pondering a Sneak pipe out the passenger side, but instead i went with a turn down right after the muffler.

For those wondering, 302 truck, I went single 3" right off the Y pipe (left the forward mounted cat) and went to where the factory muffler was and put a Flowmaster knockoff with a turn down. if need be, I'll post a picture.
