fuel gauge problem
Dually diesel in signature. All good shape, well maintained. 72,000 actual miles.
Fuel gauge reading full and tank recently filled. Drive about 1/4 mile, stop at stop sign. Fuel gauge reading drops to zip and low warning light on. Shut truck off and back on. Same thing. Drive to lunch, eat, come back out and gauge is again working. No other problems. Dash cluster looks fine. Now fuel gauge is continuing to work.
I know empty means max resistance as in open circuit. Searched forum, but didn't find much. Assuming at present dropping tank to get to sender is what I would normally have to do, are there any simple checks beyond looking for loose wires or the obvious visual?
Thanks,
Steve
