I believe that this engine at 2.3l is based on the Ford V8 60hp 139ci approx. The cylinder heads were originally designed as Adrun heads for the 239 ci engines in garbage trunks in Eastern USA to give them more power. The hot rodders picked up on them and an original set is worth a small fortune. They were/are being reproduced, but they were still very expensive. They are with out a doubt very stunning in appearence and in performance.

You can't have it both ways. It's no longer a side valve (flathead) engine if the valves are in the cylinder head. It then becomes an overhead valve (OHV) engine, with a hemispherical combustion chamber in this case. Not a monumental task, but undoubtedly saved a ton of retooling. Don't forget that there were also aftermarket OHV kits for the Model-A engine.

As long as I can SAY Flathead/Hemi engine I'm good. They're both the coolest looking engines around. I'm just being a goofy wise guy.

They are Ardun heads, named after Chevy guru Zora Arkus Duntov, manufactured to cure common overheating problems in work trucks, later someone found out since they are Hemi -Heads, they made some awesome horsepower. They are being reproduced, with stronger, better parts by a company in New York I believe, and yes they are expensive. I could buy a crate motor Hemi for the same price !

The EmiSul heads were for V8-60 blocks, ArDun's are for 221/239 blocks.
