Anyone have a Viair ultra duty...

I want to add onboard Air to my excursion. Don't ask me why, but l just like the idea of having such a tool as part of the rig.

I've looked at the 100% duty cycle Ultra Duty kit. The tank is a little small, but I can manage or simple upgrade it. I read some previous posts about Viair and they were positive. The ultra duty is a 200psi system that can operate at 100% for extended intervals before resting.

I already have the rocket switches installed for a compressor and possible air horn, so it's now just the install point.

I'd like an air chuck on both sides as well as in the engine bay and on the back bumper. The compressor as a remote filter allowing me to get it as high as possible under the truck, or fish it into the engine bay to keep it dry.

Has anyone else done something like this? Are there any tips for such a project?

I've got a Viair 100% duty cycle pump on my truck. Had it for years. It's been reliable. My only issue is I wish I had gotten one with more CFM. Mine cuts off at 150 psi, but it takes a while to get there, and that's only on a 2 gallon tank.

Not sure if you really need all the connection points. I've got one mounted on the side of my tool box under the bed rail in the bed. I keep a 1/4" x 25' hose in the tool box and one of those 1/4" coil air hoses also. That gives me 50' of reach from the middle of my truck.

Thank you both. It's good to hear others who use these products. I'm planning a tank upgrade to 5 gallons for better options.

when i first put this setup together a 3 gallon tank and the twin 480's set at 150 psi were able to take off and reinstall 8 lugnuts without any problems using an old ingersoll rand 1/2 impact gun

Ive got the Viair 10007 dual compressor kit with 5 gallon tank on my Ex. Absolutely love it. Never had a problem. Fills up a completely empty tank in about 2-3 minutes. I mounted mine under the drivers seat on a stainless steel plate that is hinges so I can swing them down easily to do any maintenance if need be.

That is a very nice install! Are the intake filters remote or attached to the compressors?

Thanks. The filters are in the engine compartment below the 6637 air filter

X2 on more hose and less connection points. The Viair kit I got came with 2 of the 25' coils, can get to all the wheels on the 5er no problem. Or to the guy in the next campsite. Since I use it for airing up and not tools, no tank required.
