I've had 80/100's in an bricknose before. They sucked. The life span was way shorter and I got high beamed constantly. When the second one burnt out I went back to the 55/65's

Is there such a thing as 55 or 65 or 75/100s so you low is socially accecptable but the high is pretty damn bright?

I would love to know. The only real downfall I can think of is that is a big transition going from 100w light to a 65w light while you've got other headlights homing at you. Might take a bit for your eyes to adjust

Yes installed the Putco LEDs in aftermarket buckets that fit ok... Thing is they have a bulb covering defuser inside the lens housing that impacts light pattern. Still sorting how to get the defuser out.... Too big to pull out the bulb hole, not keen on heating up the buckets and pulling the lens off. Might cut a "door" in top of bucket. Still chewing on it... Oh ya... here in Canuck land I had to unhook the DLR module as the LED bulbs (I think due to low draw) didn't like the DLR and would stay on high beam, which was too bright. So unhooking the DLR works however....sigh.... High beam (in dash) indicator doesn't work now, not a big deal, just doesn't look stock.

I was curious about whats actually legal and from what I understand 55 or 65w on lows and I didnt see anything for high beams. So, technically with those Hellas 80/100w i'd kinda be on the other side of legal, not that I'm mister by the book but just sayin... I really havent done a ton of research on those harnesses posted earlier. Brad said that one Putco was kind of a POS; I wonder if I could just use those pigtails( 9007 Heavy Dury Wiring Harness | Plug & Play Headlight Wire Upgrade 9007 do I need a kit w relays like this one?
https://puredieselpower.com/ford/900...ml#/product/70
Also, I havent polled anyone yet so for those of you subd to this thread; have you had and headlight or headlight housing heat related heat issues with the OEM housings when going to a brighter/hotter bulb like those 80/100s?
Those pigtails do absolutely NOTHING. If anything they HURT performance because they just add another connection and ad more length to the wire.

Even a cheap relay setup is better than the stock setup

here is a Good harness nut not cheap http://www.ceautoelectricsupply.com/...relaykits.html
REAL Hella relays(not chinese knock offs), heavy wiring and quality plugs

MOST people are Cheap and think $75 was too much for the RJM harness. But no, that is NOT a bad price

Thanks Brad, I wondered what good those pigtails were. I thought the same thing. I just ordered that harness you linked. So, you think the Philips bulbs or the Sylvanias?
Also, just out of curiosity whats the risk of heat damage if any to the OEM housings and reflectors with any of the brighter/hotter bulbs such as the Hella 80/100s, the Philips Crystal Vision/Extream Vision, or the Sylvania Silverstars?

Update: I spoke with a Fella who owns a racers supply store in RI, he said they have been carrying Hellas and PIAAs for years as well as new to them Putco and Atomic LEDs. We spoke at length and he appeared to be well versed on auto lighting. I settled on the PIAA extreams since I've already ordered the harness.. Well, I'm commited now. I'll let ya know how it works out..

I know Cary at CT Performance either has a guy or Cary is doing them himself, but converting Ford Factory housings to HID. Suppose to be WAY better than the China made ones.
Do you have a link for that harness? I'm not finding it.

I know this is an older thread, but since I just did the housings on my truck - I got CAPA certified replacement housings with bulbs and adjusters that looked as quality as the original factory pieces for $35 each from Rock Auto online. The bulbs are basic bulbs, not super bright, but the housings and lenses are real nice. I figure now that I've got good lenses and reflectors I'll upgrade the bulbs and wiring harness next fall when we go back off daylight savings time.
