Question: 1952 F1 V8 239 Radiator Support

I have a question regarding my radiator support that I removed from my '52 F1 with a 239 Flathead. I have had this truck since I bought it on my 16th birthday in 1983 so I know that I never replaced the support frame.

My frame looks like this, after I sandblasted it and before I painted it black. It fits perfect to the frame, the radiator, and to inner fender panels. It hasn't been modified or changed as far as I can tell. However, every drawing and photo of this frame I have seen shows that it should have a piece at the bottom that points up with a hole in it. I thought at first it had been cut off by PO but that isn't the case, it wasn't cut off with a grinder or ziz wheel. It has a factory edge on it.

This is what I'm expecting to see from a photo I downloaded off one for sale on eBay.

I don't really care since it works fine, but I was curious if y'all could enlighten me on why mine is different. Did this one come out of a different model or year that fits, but doesn't have the crank support hole? Or did Ford phase that out in later years of the F1 series?

Thanks

Keith

You are correct in your assumption. I have core supports both ways. The later ones don't have the crank support.

Thank you Wayne.

I'm not doing a factory restoration so I wasn't worried about points or anything like that, I was just curious why mine didn't match drawings.

Thanks again and have a Happy Thankgiving.

Maybe this is another item we could do a survey on; when they stopped putting in the crank pulley bolt with the hooks on them for the crank. I've never seen a BonusBuilt that had one made for cranking, yet they put all the other provisions for cranking (but didn't punch out the hole in the valance on 51-52's). I wonder if Export models came fully equipped?
