Dad actually snared the hubcaps back in 1992 and stashed them. Took him 20 years to finish the truck. He did a hell of a job though. The hubcaps were $400 back then. I don't actually know if they have any color on them. I'll check. It's easy to get to the Merc. It's parked in a dry storage area beside my 50 Ford pickup at dad's home farm, which is right next to mine. My Ford is a twin to the Merc. Same color combo and both have original 239 flatties and 3 speed gearboxes. The Merc is a little fancier. It actually has sunvisors and wipers on BOTH sides (I'm not kidding..)

Thanks for the reply on the colour of the lettering on your hubcaps. And my Mercury came with two sunvisors and a single wiper. And the western Canada must have heater also. Block heater too.
I paid $ 200 for my hubcaps. My sister in law delivered them when she flew in from Calgary for a visit.

Haven't got to the farm yet to look at the hubcaps. I actually have the heater in my 50 Ford valved off. I never use it and it gives off some heat in the summer. I only drive it once in a while and never in cold weather. I have an old Corvette that doesn't get exercised enough either. I retired last summer so I should have more time to drive both of them this year.

It is my belief that red is the correct color for the paint on Mercury trim , but then I'm partial to red anyway's

There's no color on dad's Merc hubcaps. Just shiny metal.

Thanks for the reply Army. All the paint in the letters of those hubcaps must have been polished/rubbed off over the years. And got to agree Allan on the red paint for the '48-'50 Mercury trim. I'm not sure on the later years. And the '46 and '47 colour either.
My hubcaps had black lettering until I painted them red for my truck.

I still haven't actually looked at them. My brother owns the truck now so I asked him about it and he said no color. Dad just gave him the truck a few months ago though. Maybe he's mistaken. I'll be over at the farm in the morning. I'll take a look myself. The story on the hubcaps is dad got them over 20 years ago (1992 maybe?) from a guy who had bought out an old Ford dealership. They were really hard to find and sold to him as NOS. Were they doing repops back then?

I'm not aware of Mercury hubcaps being reproduced. I don't think there is enough of a market to make it worth doing..
