Broken Thermostat Heater Cable for 1983 F-150 4.9L w/o AC

I went to crank the heat up in the old Ford and it gave some resistance from cold to hot... long story short is that I heard a small snap and the heater cable has become detached from the control module (behind the dash).

I am assuming an easy fix, but trying to find the cable is a mess. LMC has it for an 80-82 and reading other post, they change the cable three times in three years.

Any thoughts?

Looks like I need a new cable... Thoughts on where to find one for the 1983 4.9L w/o A/C? No luck on LMC.

Um, see if you can find a label on yours, it's probably white, probably has their oval logo, and, most importantly, it has some identifying numbers on it... post the contents of that label if you can find it....

In most cases it's the plastic arm that breaks, not the cable itself...

This will not help in locating the replacement part, but in order to have heat, this "fix" might buy the O.P. some time... it seems that some time in the past, a similar post found that "to make it work", a replacement lawn mower throttle cable was made to work by attaching the mower throttle lever to under the dash and routing the cable appropriately?

You can move the lever under the hood on top of the heater box to temporarily get heat.
