97 4.6 f250 reman engine troubles
I am in the middle of doing an engine swap on the side. I am an ASE Master Mechanic by trade and usually dont deal much with the parts end besides install......
I have hit a bump in the road on this engine swap that i figured would go easily. To the point....... I have pulled out the original engine from a 97 f250 with a 4.6 manual trans with internal slave. The engine i have pulled is an 8 bolt flywheel.
The engine ordered from advance is a 6 bolt flywheel that was provided with the reman. The newly replaced clutch/pressure plate from the original donor will not fit. Which led me to discover the 8/6 bolt fiasco. The listings on advance catalog only list 6 bolt 4.6's
WHAT AM I DEALING WITH HERE??? any help or link would be greatly appreciated

Very simple but costly mistake in terms of work and hassle.
They sold you a US built ROMEO 4.6L instead of the Canadian built WINDSOR 4.6L.
The ROMEO has a 6 bolt crank, the Windsor has an 8 bolt crank.
The VIN should have been looked at before ordering.
The 8th digit is a Six = Windsor.
The 10th digit = a V = the year 1997.
Their data base is not up to date if they have no Windsor listing. The Windsor is more prevalent that the ROMEO engine.
Good luck.

Neither you or I can be responsible for an Owner error or actions of the vendor.
Buyer is at the mercy of the vendor.
Owner apparently did not know about the VIN ID and store did not have the correct info in data base according to you, or know there are 6 different engines all told.
They should have asked for the VIN number to verify it in their data base to see they could not supply the correct motor.
A V6, two 4.6L, one 5.4L, and one V10 and even a big block V8 in an F250.
I wish I could help.
Best I think can be done is trade the unit back for a refund, credit, or trade for the correct engine at some extra expense on the deal and your labor..
Good luck.

Went through this crap myself. I now make sure I know which 4.6 I have.......the one 4.6 will have 11 bolts on the valve cover and the other has 13. theres some other differences, but don't know off the top of my head. and the Romeo 4.6 is more common, and most Romeos are car engines. winsdor 4.6s are hard to find. (At least in my area)
