1997 F350 351w auto swap to 89 302fi

Hey trying to put a 89 302 fi that was mated to m50d into a 97 f350 351w auto e40d I want to use the e40d cause the m50d is weak. The problem is the 97 had another motor put in when previous owner used it and they hacked the harness with same color wires and terminals as plugs he put another 351 from a van in it. I want to splice the plug from 97 after fuse box on to 89 harness and find above 92 ecu that's a 302 with auto unless I can use 89 ecu. The 97 harness to hacked and there's more stuff on it than 89 plus distribuator plug is different please help

Why are you removing a 351 and installing an old low output 302? You can't use the 89 harness you need to find a late model engine bay harness and 5.0/E4OD PCM.

I wanted to find the wiring diagrams for the 89 302 and 97 351 I don't see How the next style harness is any different except plugs unless wire colors are different they still do same thing unless I hv to use bare 302 and put sensors from 97 I want to splice plug on from 97 harness onto 89 motor please help I know it's easy to get plug but I don't have 170 dollars to spend on wires on top of a ecu

Sorry, I don't know the answers to your questions (other than what conanski already said about needing an ECM and harness from a 5.0 E4OD truck).

But I would suggest that you use some punctuation, and possibly separate paragraphs, in your posts. They are quite difficult to read as-is.

no im an engineer but i do need to communicate with other people all the time and even when its not quite as convenient it always seems to work better if i communicate in a way thats easier for them to understand its not that i was picking on you before i am now of course but before i was trying to give you helpful advice as to why maybe you werent getting many responses and even cell phones have punctuation its not as easy for you of course but it is easier for whoever is trying to read it

you must use the later engine harness meaning 95-97 F250/F350 harness. both motors should have all the same sensor locations. go spend some time at a pick n pull.

You will also need an e4od flexplate for a 5.0. do not use the 351w flexplate.

I might use a m5od because I have everything New flywheel 5 years ago along with New clutch but stupid slave cylinder went again 5 year's later is the wiring have close enough to match colors after fuze box I know the 97 has transmission wires but if I use manual I don't need that plus my states don't do emissions for 3-4 ton use the 302 computer to

Harness is shot on 97 missing stuff been cut spliced 89 harness. Is complete distriburator plug is different from 89 to 95 so it would hv to be spliced

you would only need a newer style distributor for a 5.0 to work correctly. any 93-95 5.0 dizzy will work.
