How do you update the nav system, do you have to do it online?

 

To update the nav system replace the disc with an updated one.
You can buy a new disc from Navtec or maybe ebay (both online). I think they are about $200.
Your owners manual tells how to remove the old disc.

They have discs...i thought they stopped using them after 08? They cost how much?

 

I have a 2007 Navigator and it uses a disc.


I guess Ford redesigned the radios so they don't require a disc. I did not know that. I am no expert so this is new to me.
I hope someone else here can tell you how to get an update.

I looked it up and the navigation is done online at the Ford site. It says to download to a USB drive. It also says the upgrade is free but didn't say whether you had to be the original owner.

You don't need to be the original owner, I have done both of my Expeditions and I'm the second owner in both cases.

 

I just ordered a disk for my 07 Nav on ebay for. My 07 Nav and 08 MKX both use the disk
