Should I buy this 2005 F250 6.0L powerstroke Diesel??

Rule #1. If you believe what a salesman tells you, I have a spectacular piece of property in Florida for sale. The truck pictured above looks nice and that is all I can advise. You have to do the leg work and become an informed buyer, so your first step into FTE was a good choice. Costs to maintaining a truck for example: look at tire prices from 17" to 20" rims and in different height. A lifted truck could use 37's or 44's depending on the lift. As you go up components wear and become more expensive to maintain. Braking comes to mind, you may upgrade to a better system or stick with OEM.

From a Ford dealership tech and former 6.0 owner
I just got out of an '07 F-250 Crew Cab Short Box 4x4 6.0 truck back in July, and into my special ordered '16 6.7 F-250 in the same cab and box configuration. I still miss that truck. I bought that truck used with 114,000 kms. on it in September of 2011. When I unloaded it privately back in July, the first guy to come and look at it, gave me the $17,000 CDN that I was hoping to get for it, with 212,000 kms. on it. In the years I owned it, I never "bullet proofed" it, nor did I need to. The only reason I got out of it, was curiosity got the better of me for what it's like to live with a newer 6.7 truck. As far as having to add DEF? It's no more expensive than adding windshield washer fluid. I chose to go brand new this time around, is so I can only blame myself for the condition of the truck after five years, not the owner prior to me.

I have a 2006 F250 4x4 6.0L with 80,000 miles on it. Runs great. No Bullet proofing. Oil changed every 5000 miles. Replaced the turbo at 24,000 & the alternator at 70,000 miles. I believe (after talking to diesel owners and reading forums) that if the truck wasn't abused and serviced regularly, it should last. Guys that pull 15,000# trailers at 80 mph up hills are the ones that will be blowing things and pulling head studs out. Some of the people on these forums don't even own a 6.0 and yet they know everything about them. You can bullet proof for $8000 or you can drive and enjoy it until it breaks then fix it, just like any other vehicle. MHO

Well put Rich.
I had to laugh at this: " Some of the people on these forums don't even own a 6.0 and yet they know everything about them."
Typically, what's it cost to replace the turbo? Ball park.
Thanks for the input. Good ole ORange County; I guess Jerry B. doesn't hang out there much.

Be aware that the 6.0 is an engine that needs to be driven and
not parked for 9 months after the summer 2000 mile trip.
Do that and you can plan on turbo problems.
