F250 Trim/molding question

Dear Members,

I'm new here so nice to meet you guys! In advance sorry about my English it's not the best there is. Little bit about myself; Living in the Netherlands, 26 years young, was in the USA couple weeks ago for holiday and came across a 67 F250. After a bit of a hassle it's on his way to the Netherlands. Awesome!.

I'm looking at a couple of pics and got some questions because i'm a bit of a noob atm. However i'm working on it! The part i'm not so clear about is the trim at the back of the car. (see pic)

If you look closely you see small holes where trim has been surrounding the talelights and the tailgate. What I don't understand is if there is a trimpart that covers up the existing trim part(that is currently installed) of the taillight. I've searched LMC truck(parts in Europe are a pain to find) and this is what they have come up with;

Styleside Tail Light Components | 1967-72 Ford F100 & F250 | LMC Truck

So i need part 1 and 3?. Because in current condition(see pics) only part 1 is installed. And I cant find any other trimpart for the tailgate little holes. Does anyone know what trimpart used to be there? (original condition).

Thank you so much guys
Greetings from the Netherlands
Jeroen

Welcome to FTE from the east coast of America! From what I can see in your pictures, those are the incorrect tail light trim pieces. This is why they don't match the rest of the trim on the tailgate. The correct ones are numbered "3" in the LMC page you referenced.

Congratulations on your purchase. It's a very nice looking truck.

As for the holes, instead of welding and repainting you could simply plug them with something like this:

This way you won't need to repaint. https://www.fastenal.com/products/details/0185767

Yeah unfortunaly, I just cant figure out why the prev owner drilled them. If I put those plugs in every hole it looks kinda cheap. Maybe there are like chrome rails for the truckbed. And the tailgate universal chromestrips or something. Repaint is also an option bit expensive....

I have the holes in mine, as well. They are mounting holes from an old slide-in style camper.

You might be able to sand and paint the plugs to match the existing paint, and this would minimize the effect. Is it Lunar Green? This touch up paint is available in aerosol cans. they can get very close to the original color. 1967 Ford All Models Colors of Touch Up Paint

Are you wanting to restore this truck to original condition?

Thank you for replying buddy! I really like your idea for sanding the plugs and painting them. However I really dont know the collor. I do have a buddy that can scan the collor and he will get me a collor code. Maybe I can manage to get some here in Europe.

Im planning to just make the car look nice and somewhat restoring it to original condition. It is already a good looking truck I just want to give it the finishing touch. Its missing a bezel and some interiorwork needs to be done. Why you ask?

Just curious. I understand big American cars are becoming popular in Europe.

Will you have to modify it in any way in order comply with the laws in the Netherlands?

I do need to modify it abit actually, however because the car is older than 40 years it are minor things. I need to adjust the headlights and maybe the blinkers it depends. Its a 250€ job. Importcosts are 6% of bill of sale value for cars older than 40 years for the Netherlands. Clear both and you will get a licenseplate/registration. Cars older than 40 years are completely tax free. This truck uses gas its about €1,40 a liter here so its a bit expensive to drive it as a daily and with the rain you dont want to drive it daily here hahaha. If you got any questions just ask!

I can't see the extra holes in the tail gate but since the truck has obviously been repainted, maybe the tailgate was replaced with one from a 70-72 Ranger that had the big trim piece. Also FWIW, the 67 is one year only side trim, narrower than 68-72. The holes on top appear to be from a cross mount tool box.

Yeah they are a bit hard to see maybe this helps:

they are tiny though but its ugly when looking closely. As for the holes on the bed. Need to figure out an idea thats not as costly as welding and repainting and still looks pretty good.

Im not that good in english but what do you mean with: "the 67 is one year only side trim, narrower than 68-72."
