Just Bought a 2000 F150 Work Edition
Hey guys,
I am not new to this forum as I have had a 93 F250 Plow Truck and 97 F250 Plow Truck. I am new to this section.
I just bought a 2000 F150 Work Edition Plow Truck. I worked out a few kinks it had already. The last few I could use some help with...
Problem 1
When I turn the flashers on, the signal lights and brake lights don't work. Otherwise the signal lights and brake lights work fine when I dont have the flashers on. Either way, the flashers dont work at all.
I checked the fuses under the dash and they are all good. I went to advance Auto to see if maybe its the relay, they dont have one listed for my truck.
Problem 2
When I try to use the power mirrors the fuse blows. I took the power mirror switch out to clean the corrosion as they were not working at all when I got the truck, but now it will work for a second then pop a fuse. Time for a new switch? I grabbed one from the junk yard from a 98 but it had one less pin, so I believe they are different.
Problem 3
ABS light is on. Previous owner said his mechanic disconnected it because its better for plowing? I call BS on that one. I looked down there and it looks like a wire broke off. I will get to that soon to see if that's the problem, hopefully its that simple.
Any help would be appreciated.
So far since I bought the truck last week,
1. I replaced the EGR tube as it was off at the manifold with no threads left on the nub on the manifold. That was lot's of fun getting out.... replacing that stopped a huge exhaust leak and irratic idling at cold start ups.
2. My reverse lights were not working. I pulled the neutral safety switch to find one pin burnt on the connector which also set off my check engine light.
3. Installed a new neutral safety switch and put a new connector. Reverse lights now on and check engine light went off immediately.
4. Replaced Auto shifter on column as the round tip was missing (more for cosmetic)
5. Bought two 7 lug chrome center caps on ebay for $60 and installed them as they were missing.
6. Installed two extra reverse lights for plowing (got them from advance Auto for $25. They suck, going to replace them with some LEDs).
7. Replaced both tailgate hinges.
Pics of truck to follow
Happy to be back here and look forward to talking trucks again.
Thanks,
Anthony
