I have a brake question for you guys, here's my situation: when I hit the brakes then let off and hit them again they are really stiff. Today they locked up and I have braked the same way before and they haven't. I would know what to look for if there was loss of pressure but this seems to be the opposite. Could it be the mc or proportion valve or??
Thanks guys I appreciate it.

Well my brakes haven't been acting up like that again. Kind of weird. But I had some excitement last night. I'm driving down the freeway and notice that my truck is smoking horribly and it smells like burning oil. I get to my buddy's house and try and see what the problem is. Couldn't find it. There was a giant puddle of oil under it after being stopped for two minutes. So I put more oil in and limped to the parts store. After rolling around On the parts store parking lot I found that the bolt that was blocking off the port for the deleted oil cooler was slightly loose and spraying oil everywhere. Irritating but glad it was a simple fix.

My rear brakes started making some noise a couple weeks ago. I replaced the drums, shoes, hardware and the wheel cylinders. One thing I noticed was the parking brake cable was slightly kinked. The noise returned this week. Gonna replace the cable soon. Other news, I removed the side steps. Looks real nice and almost looks lifted. I'll post a picture tomorrow

Well it turns out it wasn't my brakes. I thought for sure it was because when I would put a little pressure on the parking brake it would go away. On my way home from work the week before last it got pretty loud. I pulled the wheel and brake drum off and I couldn't move the hub. I pulled the diff cover and everything looked great in there. I pulled the axle shaft out and it was " drier than the Mohave in August" as put by another forum member. Rust, metal shavings etc. for the life of me I couldn't get the hub off. At that point I did some research and found that the spindles on the 10.25 are not replaceable. So I found an axle out of a 91 with the same gears and a limited slip for two hundred bucks. I battled with that thing for a few days after work and finally got it finished today. I learned a lot about u joints! I had to find a combination joint and get new straps for it. I swapped my new brakes from my old axle to my new old axle. Those mityvac brake bleeders are really nice and handy. And I suggest working on a flat driveway if you have to do an axle swap.

In the picture if you look close enough you can see some shrapnel in there

Today was a good day, I learned a lesson about valve covers. Do not over tighten the bolts. Both of my gaskets were split. I got new gaskets, put those on, along with a new oil cap. I did not over tighten them this time. I also replaced the wiper motor. I tightened up a leaking heater hose, I put some pipe dope on and fixed a leaking fuel line. Hopefully I won't have any leaks now. I also bled the line to my oil pressure gauge. I don't think it made that much of a difference.
Feel like I got a lot done today

Well it's been a while

the truck has been great, drive it to work everyday. Towed the work trailers a bunch with no problems. I had clutch issues so I replaced my master and slave cylinders. Only to find out that I had different problems. The clutch/brake pedal assembly was damn near broken all the way through. Not to mention that the actuating rod had about a 1/4" of play. Got that all sorted and the clutch feels great again. Let me know if anyone wants a write up on how to do those things. Happy to share
