Christmas question
Do yall know how popular old trucks are for Christmas pictures???? My goodness!!! I just made the suggestion Facebook that my 53 f-100 might be available for use by some of my photographer friends and people have come out of the woodwork wanting to use it!! What do yall think a fair rental price would be?

I was called a couple months ago by a young girl planning her wedding for December 5th of this year, she asked if i would let her and her future husband take pictures with my 51 on her wedding day. I checked my schedule and found it open on the date she requested. I figured with all the bad stuff currently going on in the world if I could make someone happy i would do the best i could do. I don't know her, but I'm going to be at her wedding on December 5th for pictures only, free of charge.

I don't think your wrong if you want to let people use your vehicle for photo shoots... I don't think your wrong to get compensated for your truck and your time. That's up to you. Just make sure your draw up a contract either way. If it's for non compensation, then you need to protect you and your property, stating the truck isn't for sell, no type of ownership is being transferred, your not liable for any damage of others property from vehicle to anyone else's property (including yard, grass, gravel, driveways, sprinkler systems water, sewer systems, exc). Prior to moving vehicle of the road and onto landscaping signed release of responsibility must be signed and notarized prior to action, also must talk to owner and/or owner's agent prior to event.
If your going to be compensated, then all the above and with your compensation is with a break down of those fees... Remember to "Cover your A$!"

This will be my 2nd year loaning the truck for a day for mini-shoots at a local farm to a professional photographer. The photographer this year gave my family about an hour of shots in the truck and on the farm plus the edited pics. Pretty fair deal I think. Once I get this years I will post a few! I wouldn't myself do it more than that. You have people climbing on it all day and it's not theirs so they don't care if they have rocks in their shoes or if their zipper drags the paint.

That's the part I forgot "where and how they are allowed to be in and/or in the truck and who is responsible to pay for damages in both scenarios.

Keeping in mind that few photographers are highly paid - and believing that I am ambassador for old truckdom, I didn't ask for any compensation. I did stay at the shoot and repositioned the truck as needed. She insisted on providing a token payment - but did take some great beauty shots of the truck and canvas printed a couple for me. Everyone walked away happy.

In the trade that's call TFP. Time (in exchange) For Prints. In working with a photographer on a TFP compensation be sure the contract states the number/ size and format (i.e. are these to be edited high rez prints, or raw digital files, or ?), who will select the one (or more) that will be printed, who owns the publication/reproduction rights, what max time period will elapse before you receive proofs, prints (or cd of the shots)?
Average charge for such major prop use to a pro photographer that is shooting for paid use (ad, calendar, high end wedding, etc) is typically around 500.00 a day, plus expenses, (gas and mileage charge to and from, your time and meals) plus damages. but may be negotiated all over the board.

Should also get signed liability waivers from everyone involved, otherwise a drunk bride in high heels tripping on her gown and falling off the running board could cost you not only your truck, but everything else you own or will ever own.
Even if provided gratis, you can still be held liable.
