1952 Vent Window Fit Question

Anybody know why my vent windows fit like this? Cant close them because they hit on the top. Top image is driver side minus rubber.

Passenger side lower image. Manual shows adjustment is just the tension on the spring. I'm new to this body and trim stuff. Looking for help on what to do for proper fit.

New glass and rubber will be later. Just working and things like this so I have a good understanding of fit and adjustment prior to body and paint.

It appears to be hitting the division bar? The upper mounting hole for the division bar is slotted, you need to move it back if that's what it's hitting.

The the window assemblies come out of these doors, or are they parts from another truck? Were they once in at one time and fit good previously?

The PO passed away so I didn't get to find out many details about the truck. The son in law said he put in a driver side window and a rear view mirror and that's about it.

My guess on the driver side at least is that the vent window was swapped. It has traces of light blue paint. I found a vent window frame with a broken off post under the seat.

The passenger side looks original. Neither will close because of the fit. The windows roll up and down easily.

If the glass was made too wide, it would cause this problem. I had that problem with some locally cut side window glass.

I peeked in the advance search feature and this thread sounds like it may be of help. If not there a lot of threads on the subject. I never knew about what the spring did so this is helping me too. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ont-close.html

Ross, the glass is Ford glass. Starting to delaminate at the edges. When I get ready for glass do you recommend buying from a vendor or local glass place?

Jimmy, you may have nailed it with that link. I now have a better understanding of these suckers. I may be back if I don't gitr done.

I did find a bunch of info regarding the proper order of assembly on the shaft. Not much on alignment.

Found a few issues with my vent windows. My 52 is on the left. The one on right is from my 48. That bracket is loose and moving around. I don't know where they got it from. All I can seem to find is 53 and up stuff. Major sloppiness in the 48 pivot.

The lower pivot on the 52 has been welded.

48 on bottom has extra support. Maybe the 52 has been modified? There is a hole where a bracket may have been attached.

I also found that the window track toward the door latch on the drivers door is torn away from the door. Two holes where the rivets were. I think the guy that put the glass in got pretty frustrated and did some rippin and tearin.

Looks like I'll be scrounging some parts.

I was trying to make a "good" set of vents from the parts doors I have and noticed the difference between them as well. Guess here is another difference between the monkey face and manure spreaders...
