1979 F800 Dump Truck Air Question?
need a little help with the air system on my truck.
I have three air tanks on the truck.
one under the driver side of the cab. and two behind the cab next to the fuel tank, one each side of the truck.
can you tell me what they do?
the front tank not much pressure, back two a lot more. is this ok?
Thanks Steve!

Typical set up diagrams:
Basic Air Brake System Schematics
Air brakes are in many ways simpler than hydraulic. BUT DON'T TOUCH THEM unless you school up on them and have an experienced mechanic check your work.
Hire it done if you must.

The small one under the cab is the first tank after the compressor. The "wet tank".
The other two will hold a supply of air for the brakes & accessories.
Overall I would much rather have air brakes than hydraulic brakes. If leaks arent SO bad, you can still get down the road until you can fix it.
