I used to run Amsoil in my old 7.3 and after 100k, my iron level went nuts. Come to find out, that's not an unusual thing for synthetics to crash an engine after 100k. The only advantage in running synthetics is if you are going over or way over the recommended change rate, say 7500 miles. If you change oil at 3,000 to 7500 miles, then it doesn't pay to run synthetics, go dino. I am running mostly Chevron dino oil and change every 3-4,000 miles.
