Unhappy 96 Mazda B4000 Still going strong with 350,000 km but

Hi. Have a 96 Mazda B4000 high mileage pickup which still runs and handles like new. I have been researching this problem for months and paying people to check each fix I see here (unable to do myself, one of the joys of getting older). The problem being the check engine light is on and I will not be able to licence it when it comes up for renewal because of emissions testing.

Code shown is 1451 which is the evap system. Prior to finding this forum I had replaced all three O2 sensors and the canister. After reading through these forums, it mentioned electrical problems, so the connections at the canister (at the rear of the truck) readings were all checked and everything was showing the proper values.

Unfortunately most of these repairs were done by people trying to help me so that I cannot use it towards a conditional emissions test (Ontario standards).

The box was replaced a year ago and I think that this probably has something to do with it. Someone mentioned something about three ?boxes or switches or something? located along the frame of the truck. Just wondering if anyone had any knowledge of them.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to FTE.
Did you read post #14 in the P1451 emissions thread that you listed this problem in back in July 2015???? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...ml#post6316634 It has to do specifically with Ranger wire routing at the tank to the vapor vent solenoid, that rubs a bracket & gets damaged. This is a electrical circuit fault code & seeing as how you say the bed/box was replaced just before this code popped up, look for a wiring or damaged vent solenoid problem back there by the fuel tank as suggested in the above post #14 & let us knowhow it goes.
