A New Super Duty Engine is Coming...

But when will it be here and what will it be?

Romeo Engine: $150-million investment to continue to make upgraded versions of the 5.2-liter and 6.2-liter engines and also add a new displacement for the new Super Duty pickups. The plant will also continue to make connecting rods for the 5-liter V8 engine block and add a head machining module.
Will it be to replace the 6.8L V10 in the chassis cabs? Or a smaller EcoBoost V8? Larger V8?

More Here

A bigger engine for the Super Duty would be great. The 6.2 is a fine engine, but something with more low-end grunt would be a great option for those who frequently pull heavy things.

I'd still love to see an EcoBoost engine in a Super Duty. Even the current 3.5L would be an upgrade if long-term durability wasn't a concern.

I couldn't agree more. I have put 25k miles on my EB and I just love the motor. I have owned many SDs and would buy a f250 tomorrow if it had an EB. These days, I am more concerned about the durability and reliability of a new diesel than I am about a Ford gas motor. Surely everyone's seen the EB torture test.....😉

I'm hoping for an EcoBoost engine, maybe on the order of a 4-4.5L V8. That would be about perfect for my use of towing my 9500 lbs fifth wheel.

My guess is it will be in the 2018 model. Its too much for Ford to make a body AND motor change in 2017. I will take the raptor 3.5 at somewhere north of 411/434, probably 450/500. More power than the legendary 7.3.

I'm really hoping they'll apply the Ecoboost treatment to the 5.0...

I too think an ecoboost would be awesome in the superduty. However, MPG's have been all over the map in the F-150's and I can't imagine a V-8 Ecoboost achieving any respectable mileage, but, it would be a tow monster.

5.0 Ecoboost or 5.0 based V10 would be nice! 6.3L 480Hp/480Tq V10 would work well.

Not sure they need a 6.3L V10 and a 6.2L V8.

I think a stroked 6.2 would be great. Longer stroke would make it easier to get big torque numbers, and the 4v Ti-VCT treatment would enhance power output throughout the RPM range.

An undersquare 6.7 or 6.8L V8 would fit the bill nicely IMHO.

My guess would be a redesign of the 6.2L block in order to pass the "over 14000" reliability test. This would allow Ford to discontinue the V-10. A displacement increase would allow for more torque, which is always good.
