roof rack color thoughts..

hey guys. going to attempt to build a roof rack modeled after mb 01sc's creation on post #127 here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...cations-9.html

mine will be around 9 foot long and 50ish inches wide as i plan to include 2 curved 50" bars double stacked up front and 1 50" straight bar in the back. reason for rack to to carry my 37" spare...and add a few lights. my truck is a white eddie bauer. most all racks are black, i'm considering painting the rack a shade of gold/tan to match lower cladding. looking for input on this idea. what are your thoughts?

also to consider is i plan to get rid of the stock running boards and add amp steps after i get through the roof rack project.

thanks for any input!

thanks
andy

Go for the gold, if you don't like it another layer of paint never hurts!

There was another thread recently with a white excursion and white rack, Looked pretty sharp.

Having tried the roof rack spare tire method I can say for me, keeping it inside in the stock spare location is much easier when you only need to carry 1 spare. I still need a 2 spare tire solution for longer trips into Mexico but I think I am going to go with bumper mount and save the rack for lighter stuff. Just my .02

37" tire takes up Mucho interior space. Doesn't fit in the stock location and I don't care for the look of the aftermarket rears with swing aways...or the price tag for a matching set. Thus landing on this option.

my 37' fits

and no I didn't cut any interior trim to make it fit.

there is a procedure to it but it works for me.

Having mine as a huge black one on top of the white Ex I would love to see pics of your in the tan. It might inspire me to paint mine again since my wife hates it anyways, and the tan could make it blend a little better.

looks good but still takes up to much room for my liking. i haul a lot of adults (can't believe i called my derelict buddies adults) and didn't want to interfere with the rear seat at all. to each their own. im planning to move my sub and recovery gear/tie downs to where the spare is and have the back area wide open.
