Used to have mustang II's. All you had to do was change dash pads where the vin was and presto! Never had to change titles.

There is a frame rated at 8700 gvw but I think it's either a camper or trailer special. just because someone puts a dually axle under a truck doesn't make it a 1 ton, common mistake.
My '79 F-350 4x4 srw has a max GVWR of 8550.

Guess the 4x4 suspension isn't set up for heavy towing, never owned a 4x4, but do stockpile duallies. Owned cube vans and 5 ton shoe box trucks so the only weight #s I cared about was 10,000 for 1 tons and 26,000 for 5 tons. GVCW is another set of #s I dealt with but the formula is a bit different. My 78 f350 drw is going from a 10,000 gvw dump truck to a 18000 gvw 5th wheel RV puller courtesy of a 89 f350 drw frame and a 88 f450 rear suspension and some frame boxing. It'll probably be good for 21k like the 450 is but I want to underate it and have some buffer room. For your truck Carla, I would pitch as a 8900 gvw truck with a dually in it for towing with control and stability, tough off road or on, good for construction or farm, solid truck $2500 no tire kickers as truck kicks back.

That's makes sense, I guess. I figured they would be the same as the newer stuff. A buddy bought a '03 F150 with a salvage title, 03 cab on a different frame, that title was from the cab.

Guy wuzz stoopid

I think the guy was stupid, he could have given you asking price and gotten a real deal. Yes it has 1-ton axles for sure, and it's plenty heavy duty. It's also 35 or so years old. Unless you have to have the cash right now I too think you could probably sell it for north of $2000.

It will take some time to get together with the right buyer.

Shoot, $500 isn't even scrap price for the truck.

seen a few trucks like this locally using a pre 72 dually rear end thats how they keep the wheels from jutting out and needing dually fenders.... if it even moves under its own power and 4x4 works $1500 bare minimum don't be afraid to say no to buyers they always wanna lowball you find out your info and make them feel like an idiot and eventually a real truck enthusiast will gladly remove it from your hands.....(and maybe purchase a plow hmmm)
