Will a 6637 filter get wet when raining?

That's the question. I can see the filter through the side of my hood, though there's not much space but I could imagine in hard rain it'll get wet. Will that damage it? Just want to make sure.

I had the same concerns as you about that. After many years of using this filter setup exposed under the hood there has been no damage to the filer element. Actually, as you drive down the road the air builds positive pressure under the hood that enters through the radiator area and exits through the gaps between the hood and fenders. This airflow over the filter element prevents the rain from saturating the filter. Sounds abstract but that is the reason why it does not get wet.

You may want to check out a pre-filter too. They are made of water repellent material and are washable.

There is a rather detailed right up on another board. The pre-filters have a fraction of the surface area, thus reducing CFM.

That's the one I just ordered also.
The donaldson BO85011 is supposed to be water resistant also.
The donaldson BO85046 is hydrophobic and spec'd for marine and high humidity. The above mentioned post stated the 85011 is hydrophobic also, but the 85046 is treated to resist mildew and such for repeated exposure to high moisture. The 85011 is what the Tymar kit uses from what I understand.

i prefer to use the riffraff pre filter cover. they are made by a FTE member for Riff too, so you are supporting a member, and a site supporting vendor too.

That's what I'm gonna get. Can't put a price on keeping the filter dry! Thanks for the link

i actually have 3 of them. one is washed and on the shelf waiting to go on one of the 2 trucks.
i usually change and wash the cover every six months on the trucks, with one truck truck getting done every 3 months.

I put the air filter kit on my f250. It is a 97 so can someone tell me what to do with the original sensor switch that goes into the original air box. Don't know what it does.

The sensor is called "AIT" (air intake temperature sensor) just zip tight it anywhere, wont mess with performance or anything

That is the air intake sensor. Just zip tie it to the fender.
