Best shocks for 02 4X4 stock EXCURSION

I have a 02 w 7.3 4X4. Front tires have flat spots coming in them looks to me from bouncing. Just wondering whats a good shock for the money? Also whats the first thing to go bad in the front end? Is it the lower or upper ball joints?
Thanks every one for a reply.

A lot of guys on here have gone with the Bilstein 5100's and seem very happy with them. I however chose to go with the Rancho 9000XL shocks. I'm really happy with the performance I have out of them so far. They've been on for about a month now and I have them set to 5 all the way around.

I too had some tire wear but mine were scalloping on the inside tread for the front tires due to the worn out shocks that were on there before. As for for the ball joints I'll let one of the more experienced guys jump in on that.....I'm still a baby learning about the front end on the is 4x4 truck
By the way....welcome to the most awesome forum on FTE! When you get a chance update your location. One of us may be near and able to lend a hand with ball joints and such. Oh and pics are a must around here cause "pics or it didn't happen"

My balljoint wear resulted in negative camber wear on the tires. Worn shocks I believe typically show as choppy thread with random flats.

I'm a 5100 patron and love them.

Apoc, you clearly need the stainless brake lines to go with those stainless vacuum hoses. You won't believe the difference when you put them on...

Now back to the shocks...

You noticed how clean it was too? Wife commented also lol. When it's so inexpensive to do an oil change you can do them all the time and not flinch. Hell, I fif my fuel filter a few months back... IIRC it ran me a whopping $10

Apoc already has them SS brake lines - I know because he got them from me. Apoc, get to it and install them already!
