Oil Leak after back from dipstick tube replacement

Had the dipstick tube rust off. Shop replaced, also did manifold gasket and bolts while in there. Also had intercooler gasket replaced as they removed it also. Parked at a friend's for the day, got home at the end of the day and received a text from him stating there was a big oil stain where I parked. Checked oil, and it barely registered on the dipstick. After looking around found the filter covered in oil, the pan had oil on the side, and the y-pipe and transmission housing were also wet. Could the shop have done anything to break the rear main seal while jacking the motor, assuming it's the rear main seal?

Also, should I have it towed, or refill and drive it back?

Filter and drain plug were both tight.

Don't assume anything.
No way the rear seal would be compromised by raising the engine.
Talk to the repair people first.

Thanks for the reply, stuart. The shop checked it over. Had a hard time finding the leak, but after cleaning everything they found it to be the oil pan gasket. They "tightened things up," and told me to watch it for 3-4 days. They said it was a pretty big job money and labor-wise. (Especially where I just had they do the Dipstick tube, manifold gask, studs, etc). They said they'd let me recover from that bill.

Leak is definitely less, but I still found a couple of drops on the driveway.

Picked up a jug of Motorcraft 5W-20 on the ride home.

I know I could search, but any thoughts on some of the stop-a-leak products?

Will do Cererad.

Anyone have any thoughts on the use of additives to stop leaks?

Yes. Don't.

Best case, they don't work. Worst case, they screw something up. Even if the additive happened to stop the leak for now (unlikely), it's only going to be a temporary fix and it's likely to start gushing oil at an even less convenient time than now.
