8 1/2 Year Journey - Maiden Voyage !

Early '80s - Had a beautiful '49 for 10 years before they were cool - Wife is a life-long Hot Rod enthusiast and F1 Fanatic - I sold it - failed to mention beforehand - Barley survived.....

2007 - Friend mentions an F1 "Basket Case" available - Wife overhears, steps between us with 2 words... "Get It" - Me: 6-1/250, Her: 5-0 / 120.... "Yes Dear".... I got it, and joined all you Knuckleheads on this Forum the same week.

Wife of now 44 years rides with me on it's first run. No Mufflers, She's wearing shooting protection, cell phone in-hand, recording. Not a great Video and the volume annoyingly distorted. That said, it captures a neat moment for us.

Never uploaded to You-Tube before. Hope the links play if interested.

Outstanding! You both were properly attired with goofy smiles. The first ride is always a special event. Enjoy the ride.

First ride is always a big day. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing it. I'm sure it helps that she is enthusiastic about the project. I couldn't get the second video to play. It might later though.

BADD ***! Sounded like a top fueler on my speakers. That ride must have felt awesome.

Thanks for posting. Keeps the rest of us inspired to keep plugging away at our trucks.

Thanks Ross,

Even if new projects arise, this Monkey-Face stays for the duration. To that end, I overkilled everything. Engine Components, Cable/Wiring Gauges, Grounding, MSFC-level Connectors, Correct Spec Crimp Tooling yada yada yada. Everything unreasonably beyond need. Guess my 40 years in High-Tech Q.A. created a monster... i

That said, in respect to your question regarding Paint, I'm done with sweating rock-chips, car-covers, door dings, bird poop, parking miles away and endless detailing. I planned a cool engine bay, keep it in Red Primer, Steelies / Proper Tires, Drive/Bracket-Race the daylights out of it, and when some Moron door-dings me, the fix is a Rust-O-leum Rattle-Can.....

That Dawgie will hunt
Usually when I take something like out without I come back to a police officer parked in front of the house - I've gotten warning tickets, request to inspect it which involves sitting in the drivers seat and blipping the throttle and I've even gotten threats that if I do anything to the sound I will get a ticket for a dirty license plate
It shouldn't be long until I get Black Betty on the street

Congratulations on your first drive!! Looked like a good one. I'm impressed with your engine bay, very clean. Sorry to see someone has already stolen your hood.

Thanks Buddy,

Wish I could join in with you but I used up my alcohol privileges 4 years ago. I'll be shooting you a copy of my "one change at a time" record to date, dealing with Carb/Cam manners at idle. Could use another knucklehead's point of view.
