Doors

Does anybody know why the front driver door is on a national hold? We've got a van that has been waiting for 6+ months for a door.

Mr. C;

That's long wait, too long. The assembly point for Connects has changed and I suppose that might have made for some delivery problems with parts.

Have you tried junk yards? I recently needed a door for my Explorer and did not like the Ford price--I found the door through a local junkyard and it was in perfect shape and reasonable in price. Also, many junk yards are now in contact with one another and get just about anything.

Good luck with the door and let us know how things turn out.

My guy at the body shop is going to check the yards again. The insurance company has authorized NEW doors though since the van only has 36k on it. It is still driveable though which is a good thing.

I know that it was ~5,000 for the rear drivers door and the front drivers door. They are spendy!

I ordered two TCs for customers in the past month or so and neither had a hold from the production side. It's possible they just don't have "extra" to go outside production. Since it is such a long process to get them here (shipping, and then converting them into vans) I would guess they front load production in the beginning of the year so they may simply be at full muster to pump as many out as they can and most production is parts on demand these days. That's just a guess, not insider info or anything.

Hi Chris,

I'd like to do some research and see what options are available to help with your wait. How many miles are on the Transit Connect?

Thanks, Chris! PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll escalate this to your regional customer service manager. They have additional resources and may be able to assist.

Mr. C;

I vouch for Crystal, she is for real. She worked with me on a problem I had and she was good. Your problem is serious and I hope she gets to the heart of it.
