Rust-Oleum Color Match for Medium Scarlet (Paint code EN)

Anyone come up with a brush-able paint (i.e. Rust-Oleum or similar) that is a good match for Medium Scarlet (Ford paint code EN or 2D or M6236)? I'm just looking for something I can top-coat floor sheet metal I've replaced or rust-treated/primed. It doesn't need to be pretty perfect, hence the reason I just want to brush it. But I wouldn't mind it being a close match.

Well, given that it doesn't take barely any additional effort to match it, why wouldn't one try to match it?

It's a pretty widely used color - Ford used it on the Explorer, Mustang, Contour, Bronco, and F150 for several years. I figured maybe someone else had already found a match before me.

And it is metallic IIRC so no brushing going on there And why would you want OIL based rustolium anyway. That is pure trash. Go get some IH red

Nope, it's a solid color. Rust-Oleum Regal Red looks closest. Too funny - here's someone roller-painting their entire F150 with it...

I was thinking it looked like more of a lipstick red. In fact, he even comments on the second video that it doesn't have the burgundy shade that the color chart showed.

Yes the Hack $50 paint job has been around for quite some time. The problem with it is it is oil based so NOTHING other than oil based paint will stick to it. So if you ever go to do it the Right way, all the oil based paint needs to come off.

If you use a Quality enamel(such as tractor paint) it will act as good base and can go right over top of it

Valspar Tractor paint is highly reviewed and comes in several shades of red. Might have to find a color chart. The on-line one is terrible.

Valspar was kind enough to send me a color chart. They have four reds, but they're all very close. The one that is most a blood color (and thus closest to Medium Scarlet), is New Holland Red. IH red is a bit "brighter" and Ford Red is brighter yet. The medium scarlet is trending more in the violet color direction.

I suspect it's not a great match (I know it won't be perfect), so I'm undecided whether I'll try it or not yet. But just thought I'd post up the knowledge I have at this point.

Assuming this is painted factory New Holland Red, it actually looks closer than I thought...

I got a can of the Valspar New Holland Red, and while it's a closer match than their other reds, it's still no Medium Scarlet. I'll use it any way now that I own it. Maybe next thing you know I'll be painting the whole truck!
