I bought my 2015 F250 last November, and this spring my check engine light comes on with the message exhaust system fluid fault with the anoyying speed limitation. Bring the truck back to the dealer and they just say add def fluid, so I just have them do it. 2 weeks later the message comes back, bring it back to the dealer and they tell me it "needs reprograming" they do the work, light goes off. two weeks later light comes on again. Dealer puts in new exhaust sensors and reprograms the truck. This fix lasts a few months in the mean time the truck shutters really bad under regeneration mode. Talk to dealer they claim its normal. Finally this week the light comes back on again. Bring the truck to the dealer and Ford keeps telling them that it only needs reprograming but that doesn't fix the problem. The dealer wants to replace the computer but ford isn't letting them do it (the truck is still under warranty) has any one else had this problem and had it fixed the right way. Im starting to get pretty mad when I went out and bout a 65k truck not to have these problems.

 

Delete the emissions and you will never have that problem again

 

Go to another dealer. Might get better results.


On the DEF fluid, don't fill up till within about 200 miles to empty. That will help it from being confused, imho.


The regen issue...drop down a gear as you go thru the cycle to change your rpms. That will probably help.


How do you use the truck? If you are doing mostly city driving that maybe part of the problem.


Getting it good and hot and working the motor some may help.

 

Not everyone lives in the boonies where emissions isn't required.

 

I want to do what I can to get this situation turned around, FordSDF250. How many miles are on your truck? Is it at the dealership now?

Had same issues as others last night and vehicle left me stranded with a full tank of DEF fluid I could only idle. Had to be towed home then this am I put a scanner on my truck and determined the codes it was throwing. Ends up that 2011-2015 Fords have a recall that they never announced to me. So anyhow it's at the dealership getting worked on as we speak. Thank God a friend mechanic alerted me to the recall.

 

The EGT sensor and DEF fault are two different things.
