Looking at buying this truck like advice

Hi I'm thinking about buying this truck. Never owned a diesel before. The are asking $4000, I'm thinking $3000 tops. What others think? Thanks

1983 f250 6.9 diesel. Single cab long bed. Truck is an '83, that being said, it's not perfect. Has about 140k miles on it. Manual 4 speed. Brand new clutch put on less that 300 miles ago. Has 4 inch exauhst to 5 inch mbrp tip. Hide away goose neck, new warn premium lockout hubs. 2 newer batteries, CD player with aux hook up. Temp and oil pressure gauge pods. New fuel rail/injectors. Nice aftermarket black and chrome rims. Back mud tires have 80% tread left, front about 50%. Aftermarket steel front bumper. Truck is in overall good shape. Has some rust on rocker/wheel panels.

Me too. Thanks. I ended up buying a 1986 K5 M1009 Military Blazer with 56K on it. Went 4 wheeling with it and I think it would climb a brick wall!!!

Not the M1009s , they are basically diesel(6.2) 24V heavy halfs, 6 lugs, 10 bolt axles, NP208, transfer, etc.

The CUCV pickups are the heavy duty rigs, D60, 14bolt, NP205, etc.

To me he most interesting part is the 24V system, they don't use a 24V alternator but 2 12V alternators with an isolated ground.
