Tailgate question

I have a tailgate with the brushed aluminum insert,

but I like the clean look of a tailgate without the insert.

My question is, how is this insert held in place? Are there mounting holes I'll need to fill in if I remove this insert??

you would be better off looking for another tailgate than trying to fill the holes.
it will be cheaper in the long run.
and you would be able to sell your gate with panel with ease, they bring a premium price in good shape.
so you may just be able to "downgrade" to a plain tailgate, have it painted to match your truck, and come out with a few dollars in your pocket.

Thanks, Tom. I have been trying to find a plain white tailgate so I won't have to have it painted...

If you care for aftermarket, they're no show-winners but they get the job done.
