Question Years of regret

Four years ago I made a huge mistake and sold my white 1997 F-250 extended cab Powerstroke ... Some of you who may have been here for a while may remember it (I will have to dig up a picture). I sold it for $8000... a steal (but it was what they were going for at the time). I had to sell it because I joined the Army, and it was what had to be done at the time. I immediately regretted it and kicked myself in the a** for the past four years. A few months back, I had the chance to buy it again when the person I had sold it to was trying to sell it. Unfortunately, the truck was starting to rust out pretty good and it had not been taken care of like I took care of it. New Jersey winters were hard on it at this point. I didn't buy it because it just wouldn't have been the same as it was when I had it; it was my first truck and I had it for around five years.

I recently moved back to the mainland from overseas and now live in Washington State. I have been crusing craigslist for a OBS 7.3, but people want too much for them these days! I'm talking a LOT of money.

Today I went and looked at a truck about an hour north of me. It's another 97 250, this time regular cab and an XL (or it may only be an X because it literally has 0 options, not even a block heater). The truck's got 275,000 on the clock and is still running pretty good. Needs the typical front end dana 50 overhaul, but that's nothing I can't tackle in a few weekends. The bed has seen way better days, and the rest of the body and interior is typical of a 'work' truck of its age and mileage. So I decided to buy it. I pick it up next weekend... pics to come.

Best part? Got it for $3,500. Time for an IPA

You're Welcome!

And thank you all for welcoming me back, im stoked to be here... Powerstoked...

Bought the truck from the original owner, completely un-modded save for the front spring add-a-leaf.

First mod? Saggy headliner delete.

As promised...

No FM radio? I know this isn't the original radio out of the truck, but I can't believe they made one without FM.

Nice find man!! It's missing one wheel I guess? Ah well. And those dash lights are pretty easy to replace.

First upgrade is definitely going to be the 6637!

Lol yes it is missing one wheel. Do you know where I could find a write-up or any info on the dash lights Slider? I always thought the gauge cluster was enclosed?

I am not sure if there is a write-up. Just very care fully remove the dash bezel and you'll see screws for the cluster. It's really pretty straight forward. Let me know if you have any questions after you look at it and I will try to go more in depth when I get home in front of my computer. It only took me about an hour to take mine out, replace all the bulbs, and put it back together.
