Question 90 E350 help

Hi everybody! I just bought a 1990 E350 and I have a few questions.. The setup I have is a 351w, C6 and a Dana 60 in the rear with 3.54 gears, And I was wondering if there would be a way to determine the spline count without pulling the axels, Like if Ford used only a specific one for that year. I have seen some that say it could be anywhere between 16-35. I want to put a locker in the rear but I need to know the spline count first. Also, I bought it with a fuel problem and the previous owner removed some things from the engine bay, And there is a big empty spot in the drivers side that I think the air filter goes, But I am not sure. There is also empty connectors just hanging in that spot aswell, I will post a pic of it and hopefully someone will be able to tell me what goes there. Also, Where does the ECU mount, It is just hanging in front of the Alternator. And finally, Is there any place to get the fuel filler hoses? I have looked everywhere and from what I have read, They have been discontinued.. If they do not make new ones, Is there another hose I can use from another car that will fit? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Not trying to be too snarky to a new user but dude paragraphs are your friends.

Honestly it makes reading multiple questions MUCH easier!

If your E350 has the full floating diff it's pretty easy to pull the axles. You don't even need to pull the tires. If you are buying a locker you really need to check the spline count first. Because the diff might have been swapped in the past. So before shelling out the cash for a locker always confirm what you've got.

The ECU mounts inside on the passenger side under the heater. The connector sticks through the firewall.

JWA, Yeah, I know.. I was in a hurry when I posted it though, Had to get to the Junkyard before the scavengers do, lol.

Fordman75, Thats why I asked if Ford used a certain spline count for 1990 or if it could still be random... I'll have to look where the hole is for the ECU and mount it back correctly, As I said, It is hanging in front of my alternator right now. Any idea what the connectors are in the pic? Thanks.

On my 89 the yellow wire with the round black connector goes to the square single wire connector. There is a fusible link that connects them.

The red & blue wire rectangle connector connects to a harness that goes through the firewall right next to the main harness connector ( the huge round one ) .

The biggest connector ( top in your picture ) connects to a harness that goes to the inner fender just behind the reservoir in your picture and connects to a relay.

Thanks! Now if I could just find some fuel filler hoses I'll be in business, lol.

If you go to fordpartsgiant.com
E1TZ-9047-R - Ford Parts Giant

Your part number should be E1TZ9047R for the mid-ship tank

Filler-neck supply says they have one for $75!! I think that is a bit high, maybe you can search the net for the part number i gave you and find one cheaper..

If you need a filler hose for a rear tank,, I may just have a new one laying around!! Actually I ordered one from filler neck supply for my van and in the mean time I found a FORD one and ordered it...

here is a thread where NumberDummy confirms the number I gave you!

annaleigh, The one I need is for the rear tank, I am going to remove the mid-ship tank as I won't be using it.

I have looked everywhere for the rear one and nobody has it, I have seen the one at Filler Neck Supply, But they only have the mid-ship one, Nobody makes the rear one anymore..

It does not really make sense, I see alot of our vans on the road, I don't know why they would stop making parts for it.

How much do you want for the rear one?

The part you need is a E1TZ-9047-B

Call these places and make sure they have it before you order it online..
also call ford and have them to do a national search..
try here
HOSE - FILLER PIPE | E1TZ-9047-B

here is another
Ford Parts - Discount Ford Auto Parts

you probably already know what yours looks like,, like this:
https://shopping.yahoo.com/179872214....0#description

The one I have came from filler neck supply but is just a straight piece of hose. It may be marine grade tubing and it is very stiff. The pic at F.N.S. showed the hose looking like the factory one with a slight bend on each end. The one they sent me is just straight.. After I got it i searched around a bit more and found the stock hose by calling ford and having them to do a national search..

My extra hose looks allot like this
Marine Products Fuel Fill Hose 1 1/2"

As I said it is very stiff. What I was going to try to do was to clamp it over a piece of pipe and try to pre-bend it a little before I tried to install it.

Heres a guy that uses marine hose on his tank and said it will bend

One last thing.. change the roll over vent valve and grommet. My tank was not filling up but half way. When I took the old tank out the valve was not tight in the grommet and the valve did shake like a PCV valve does but you dont want to have to drop the tnak later.. On mine the roll-over valve has a rubber hose that comes from the valve to a steel line at on the frame at the rear of the tank and then runs up to the EVAP canister.. BUT mine is a 85 150 with a mechanical pump. Yours should have a electric pump in the tank so I dont know if your vent valve is the same set up as mine.
