VCT Changeout

Is it possible to change the VCT without pulling the valve covers? Happen to see a step by step tutorial where the guy pulled the rubber seal and was able to access the hold down bolt. He then removed the vct. Granted, he was on a 2004 5.4L.

I believe if yours is a 2008 or newer then you have to remove the valve cover.

On an '07, you will definitely need to pull the cover. The opening size was changed in that year and could no longer be removed through the cover.
