So was it British? I do wish mine had that door but those plans are a long way down the list. Fenders might have been changed to make more room for rear side doors. It's still a puzzle why they would go to the work of filling the side reveal and putting on a lower roof.

Thanks, I saw the link and it clears things up. I'm guessing there are more rail lines in the Outback than roads. Quite the machine.

The Aussies build their own version of the panel truck from the base Ford. I have seen these rear fenders on Aussie pickups too. This ambulance is from the Q.A.T.B. the Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade. Their cross was different than the **** black cross.
They thought, let's take one of our ambulances and put it on the rails.

It also provided future inspiration for this guy:

The converted tonner ambulance reminded me of this Seibert school bus. Came across it for sale in NM, but had my project M-H on the trailer heading home from Phoenix so no way to haul them both. I did learn later that it was sold to a guy in Santa Fe. Hope it's been brought back to its glory. Stu

Hey, how did the 727 end up in here? I guess it had the about the same horsepower as 3 flatheads did.

Yeah, he flew in from Portland. He is going to get it running someday.

I spent 8 years as a flight engineer on the 727 and it really was a good airplane. Maybe a tad loud!

Were you an engineer on the plane 44 years ago by chance?

DB survived the drop and stashed the money but unfortunately was killed and eaten by a sasquatch. Hence, no body ever recovered. Not sure, but I think it's ok for a poster to hijack their own thread. And Stu that thing is in amazing shape!

Shoulda done a drop and turn around to go back for it. Still had the lengthwise benches that lined the walls. Only wanted $3000 for it. Stu

Stu, I read the first sentence in your last post twice before I realized you weren't talking about DB Cooper. And yes, you definately should have. Maybe I'll google 'car clubs in Santa Fe' and see if it's still out there. Former glory would be ok, but what if it's been chopped and channeled with a crushed velour interior? And just look at those rear doors, rear fenders and those genuine steel running boards. That thing has never been high centered on a stump.

And if I might I'll go "inside baseball" and compare its Seibert body conversion to that of my similar M-H Ranger. The jail bar school bus retains all its sliding side windows and related hardware and fittings. These pieces are at the outer limit of "unobtainium". Much of it missing on my Ranger. Then factor as you said, there is no cancer, good straight boards, and the pie wagon doors fit straight and clean. I was an idiot. Stu
