skyjacker failure

skyjacker failure
Hello all,
I thought i would share a little info on my skyjackers springs after a few thousand miles.
After the install, within a month, the truck settled down about 3/4 inch from the first day. The front end continued to settle a little more and sat ~i inch lower than the rear.
Why i rate it as a failure is my driver front sagged another ~1 inch. It was easy to see with the naked eye. I added two zero rate spring (~1inch) and raised the front back to level. Now the rear passenger is ~1inch low.
This set up may have 3000 miles on it at most. It never goes off road.
anyway, I know people are always asking about lifts so I thought I would share my experience. If anyone want some pics i can get them, but reality is these springs were just a wast of time and money.

Chris989,
Sorry to hear about your spring issues. Did you measure the lift when first installed? I.E. were they a 6" lift, but actually installed at 7", then settled? Just curious about that. I think most springs will settle for a while. I know my early Bronco lift settled a fair amount, but it was fantastic off road.

For the record, 4wheel parts said they would take it back, the only problem is i moved and the closet is about 275 miles away. Considering the freight back and forth, i am just going to re-arch what i have.

Do you have a 460 under the hood by chance?
At least they said they (4wheel parts) would take them back, but what a PITA job to remove again just to maybe swap in the same problem. Would they give you your $ back or just another new set of the same?
I have a Skyjacker 6" all spring (front and rear) on ol red and have no complaints, of course I bought it 7 years ago. I do have a new set of Rough Country 4" springs on the front of blue (w/460) and they are settling and not settling even either...so I feel your pain.
I am looking into Atlas for the blue truck because they have the option on the rear to get enough lift/leaf spring to delete the need for a rear block all together.

And very nice truck BTW.

I have the 400, not a 460. The front settling lower than the rear was not a big issue for me, I always anticipated installing a few zero rates to even it out if needed. Now i have three on the front driver and one on the front passenger. Looks like i need another two on the rear passenger now. The rear driver is the tallest.
it goes like this;
if the rear driver is ZERO.
rear passenger -1"
front passenger -.5"
front driver -1.5"
Just a mess of awkwardness.
in the picture above, i already added to the front

MODERATOR
Hello all,
An update on this sagging issue might lead to a bent frame and not my springs. I feel bad if i have wrongly blamed skyjacker.
The truck was not wrecked or damaged but I did have it towed 100 miles after the fuel pump failed in northern NV and maybe it is possible the wrecker gave me a twist? A closer look now shows my front tires are no longer centered in the wheel wells.
I find it hard to believe a wrecker has enough muscle to cause damage but it was one of those huge rigs.
The truck is scheduled to go to the frame shop the end of the month. I will report back with the results. The shop says these older frames are easily racked by hitting a ditch or in my case maybe a tow truck.
If the issue is not the springs, maybe the moderator could delete this post or allow me to modify it. I do not want to blame skyjacker if they are not at fault.
Thanks
Chris

Thank you for the update, I was getting worried about my lift from them. Keep us updated on your frame shop outcome, hope all bends back well.
Was it roll back towed, is so and the guy really powered the winch/chain on the axle when he secured it to the deck, he might of tweaked it? But I agree on probably not but you never know.

I swapped my springs side for side and my truck still sits low on the driver. I was really hoping I had one spring in backwards and just never noticed. That would have been too easy.

Sorry i never replied to the comment.
I can not say about the total lift. I went from a butchered add a leaf and a stack of blocks to all spring. I never had stock numbers to compare it to.
