94 351w oil cooler

Hi, i have a 94 lighting with oil cooler on filter housing adapter, what type of gasket is used to keep it from leaking , just rebuilt engine, and Ford say's no, seal or gasket , What Gives ?

It's got a gasket, otherwise it would leak. I don't recall what it looks like, been awhile since I had one off an engine. I've got a roller 351 in my shop with one, I'll try and look at it later and get back to you.

You can remove the cooler assembly and replace the lower hose with one from a 90 F-250, 5.8L. This will also allow you to run an FL-1A filter.

Ok, i recon i can make a gasket for it, want to use the oil cooler though, i am giving this truck to my son, been setting for about 7 years, just about finished up with engine , going to start it on Sunday evening.

the last cooler i removed didnt have any gasket. if your worried about it throw some thread tape on the threads.

The one the roller 351 in my shop has a gasket. It's a square o ring. It stuck to the block sealing flange when I removed it. It's thinner (inside to outside dimension) than the ones found on an oil filter. You can likely get a replacement gasket from Ford

Yes, Ford should have these. All of the Turbo 2.3L had this style oil cooler, only the water lines were smaller. I picked up a couple of these and got replacement gaskets from Ford.
