Hi, i have a 94 lighting with oil cooler on filter housing adapter, what type of gasket is used to keep it from leaking , just rebuilt engine, and Ford say's no, seal or gasket , What Gives ?
It's got a gasket, otherwise it would leak. I don't recall what it looks like, been awhile since I had one off an engine. I've got a roller 351 in my shop with one, I'll try and look at it later and get back to you.
Ok, i recon i can make a gasket for it, want to use the oil cooler though, i am giving this truck to my son, been setting for about 7 years, just about finished up with engine , going to start it on Sunday evening.
The one the roller 351 in my shop has a gasket. It's a square o ring. It stuck to the block sealing flange when I removed it. It's thinner (inside to outside dimension) than the ones found on an oil filter. You can likely get a replacement gasket from Ford
Yes, Ford should have these. All of the Turbo 2.3L had this style oil cooler, only the water lines were smaller. I picked up a couple of these and got replacement gaskets from Ford.
