Sorry guys, I'm a horrible member when it comes to timely responses sometimes, lol. Yeah it drives like a gasser which really surprised me, almost makes me miss the loud diesel noise of the 7.3. Interior and ride are definitely nicer, even with a lift and larger tires which surprised me as well.

It's a Platinum trim so it's got pretty much everything, except the moonroof, which was fine with me, didn't want that anyway. Not sure I would've picked that high of a trim level but since it was used (20k miles on it), didn't get a choice lol.

 

Had my 6.7 Gen II for about 5 Months, and love it. I really liked my 2011 F250, but the new 16 seems like a completely different Truck. It even sounds different. Planning a 3000mi Trip for next Month and I can't wait to give her a real shakedown.

Gone is the diesel clatter. Gone is the smell. I miss those things most of the time. On the other hand, it starts up well in the cold and has a ton of power.

 

I'll have my '15 250 in temps as low as -18 this weekend. It will be a good test to see how she starts and runs. I plan on plugging it in for a few hours before starting it just to warm up some fuel.

 

Yep - me too. We're expecting -14 or so for Saturday, and Sunday still -7F. I think it will do fine.

 

When it gets that cold run an anti gel. I usually run one when it gets into single digits for more than a day. This weekend we will be there.

 

troverman, Yeah I miss the clatter at idle or when getting on the gas. Still trying to get used to lack of it lol. Doesn't usually get that cold here, but it definitely starts up easier overall and when it dips down close to freezing and below.

 

Still trying to get everything moved in and situated in the new truck, was so used to where I had it all in the old one.

Still need to wire in a key-on wire for my radar detector if anyone has done this or has any thoughts on a good one to use. Had it wired into my old overhead console on the 7.3 with the mileage info and compass but this truck doesn't have this so gotta find a new location.

 

Pull the panel underneath the steering column - it just snaps off. Over near the parking brake assembly will be a bunch of blunt-cut wires. Use a test light or meter to see which ones supply 12v when the key is on, versus those that supply all the time. I'm certain there will be one. The truck should have this wiring bundle whether it has the "upfitter switches" or not.

Alternately, your truck has an auto-dimming rearview mirror. That is a hot circuit only when the key is one, but not much amperage.

 

Blend-Mount makes a kit to hang the detector from the rear-view mirror and offer a short pig-tail that ties directly into the auto-dim mirror plug. It works quite well - despite the amperage. Your other suggestion for a switched wire is also doable, or piggyback a switched fuse in the fuse panel.

Never seen those before E02, thanks! Don't think I'd like the mount hanging from the rearview, seems to hang to low and would be in my sight line? Totally forgot this truck has the auto-dimming rearview, my detector has a harness similar to the blendmount, so may just tie it in there at the rearview.

 

The pic below was to show the Blend-Mount for my Mini-Max, but you can also see the Blend-Mount for my radar detector as well. It does not interfere with my line of site there.

 

Hmmm just checked on the drive home from work, hell, my rear view mirror blocks my line of site (tall people problems) so definitely can't mount under it. Feels like this truck has less windshield than the 7.3 did. I could mount above it a I guess but I'd always heard clean line of sight is best for detectors so not sure if those little windshield dots would interfere or not.

 

I think the windshield dots would interfere.

 

Love everything about it except the leaking radiator I am dealing with.
