Gas Tank Options

Looking to replace the gas tank in my 2005 F250 CC 4X2 SB V10. The 29 gallon OE tank works fine for driving around town but I'm planning on doing a cross country trip with a fifth wheel soon and would like a little better reach between refills. Anyone have any recommendations?

Titan and Tranfser Flow are the two most prevalent names that I hear about... I briefly looked into them for similar reasons, as stopping for fuel every 180-200 miles when towing is kind of a bummer, but the $1200+ price tag immediately turned me off.

No Luck

So either I'm terrible at searching or Transfer Flow and Titan don't have anything available for the 6.8l. It appears that they have the PS covered though. I've seen a spectra 40 gallon tank on Amazon...but that is it.

I have a 46-gallon Transfer Flow tank on my 2002. Yes, it was expensive, but it's an excellent quality part and TF's customer service is second to none.

Interestingly enough, I just checked their website and they don't list a replacement tank for your truck, or my truck any more. Maybe give them a call?

The part number for mine is 0800111953.

I'm wanting the same on my 09, ebay has 40 gallon f550 rear tanks, I was thinking of removing the spare installing the tank with an electric fuel pump put a tee in the filler of the main tank to refill it.

Transfer Flow has a tank for gas trucks but you are looking at least $2k until you have it shipped.

If you can do without the spare tire and can do the plumbing/electrical you can fit an Excursion tank in place of the spare.

My dads 15' short bed has a 35gal tank and transfer flow can obviously fit a 46gal tank in the space, Ford could have done a lot better than a 29gal tank.

I had these guys build me a custom 30 gallon in bed fuel tank several years ago... It's still working fine... It has it's own fuel pump externally mounted under the truck bed and it's own sending unit to a gauge in my 4 gauge pod on the a-pillar...

It was expensive but cheaper than most others at the time... It transfers fuel into the main tank via a switch on the dash... Works well for me...

Titan doesn't make a replacement tank for a gasser. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Transfer Flow 47 gallon replacement tank and still kept the spare tire. It was one of the best things I did for this truck. I can go twice as far as I did before. I only wish I had done it sooner.

The EXcursions came with a 44 gallon tank that goes where a pickup's spare tire is, the EXs had the spare in the rear cargo area. If you can find a good place for your pickup's spare tire the Ex tank should be a very cheap (junkyard) option to go with.

Would be nice to be able to use the Ex tank and the stock tank like the old dual tank setups. 70+ gallons.

Yep, it might let our thirsty V-10s actually PASS a gas station or two!

No, it is a Transfer Flow tank especially made to replace the original gas tank, 47 gallons. If Titan had made a replacement I would have bought it since the Titan is a nylon tank and lighter. The TF is steel and heavier, but that's the only replacement tank available. You can always get an "in-the-bed" tank, but I didn't want one of those. My truck weight went to 8560 which is 460 lbs more than it was before I installed the tank.
