6.0 Replaced Injector Won't start

I was driving and my truck started have lack of power, could barely get going on hills, tons of blue smoke (smelled like diesel) real rough idle. I unplugged injectors and found #5 made no difference. I replaced it today and I can't get it to start. It'll get to 2000+ psi 48v ficm, low pressure oil registers, ficm says its in sync. It will crank and blow a lot of black like its half firing or something. It has even crank to, until it tries to fire. From what I've been reading could it be the ficm? That one circuit is fried?

Welcome to FTE. I see no one responded.

I moved this to the 6.0 section.

The FICM registering 48V does not indicate it is good. What are you reading the numbers with? Give us a complete Data set if you can.

Check the FICM plugs, they need to snap into the connector. Have any gauges to read live data, like scan gauge?

Are you showing any codes? You can have pending codes without a check engine light. Did you get the small wire reconnected that goes to the passenger side battery positive cable? Did you get the glowplug relays fully seated? Did you make sure the MAP sensor hose got reconnected to the passenger side of the intake manifold?

Yeah I have a scangauge, so I can read all that stuff. As far as I know everything is connected, I've gone over all the connections countless times and I did check the ficm connectors. I should mention the ficm did get down to 44volts recently while under hard accel. As well 45-46 is not uncommon just driving around. Otherwise everything has been quite normal.

ICP and IPR are a good place to look. It can take a good bit of cranking to get the air out of the HPO system after having that rail off. Are you making good (160 ish) rpm's while cranking?

Yeah that's about what I was cranking at, probably faster cause I have a 6.4starter. I'm kinda thinking its not that. It has updated dummy plugs/standpipes and was reading 2000+ for icp. I'm really leaning towards ficm I think

Check fuel injector pulse width. Kinda chops the problem in half. Generally If it's zero you're back to electrical stuff, if it reads anything you're looking at fuel supply, mechanical stuff.

Here's the code if you don't have it handy:
Fuel Injector Pulse Width (microseconds)
TXD: 07E0221410
RXF: 046205140610
RXD: 3010
MTH: 000800010000
NAM: FPW

Also, here's a spreadsheet with expected readings for most of the pid's you can read with your ScanGauge:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...4&d=1424302615
This says FPW should be 990 at idle, lower at high idle, doesn't have a cranking value.

I have never heard of checking this before. How do I do this with a scangauge? I don't remember seeing anything about pulse width when I was setting it up

Out of curiosity, do you have fuel pressure? How many miles on the truck.

It's one of the many XGauges for ScanGauge. You'll have to put the numbers I listed above in. Sorry, I figured you were familiar with this. Here is a video instruction, not too hard once you do one or two.

Oh, I understand. I was thinking something way different. But yes I do know how to do that. I will give that a shot! But I don't have a fuel pressure gauge so I don't know fuel pressure.

What caused the lack in power in the first place ? Did it have an injector going bad and it finally just quit or they failed quickly. I would pull the fuel bowl cap and have some one turn your key on for a second and see if the bowl fills quickly. When you turn your key on can you hear the pump running?
