1973 F100 bench seat dilemma
Hi all! I have a 1973 F100 that I am rebuilding, and I need a new seat. The problem is that I'm not sure what will fit in the truck that will meet my desires/requirements.
I am 6' 4", and I am worried about my head hitting the rear glass window if I get rear ended, so a headrest is a MUST. I am also worried about not having a shoulder strap. Yes, I am aware that people were just fine before shoulder straps were put in cars, but I'd rather be safe. The reason why I mentioned the seat belt is because the bench seats that are in newer Fords have integrated seat belts. That's all fine and dandy, but I don't know if those seats would fit well in my '73. I can do a little modification. I'm not expecting a drop-in fit. If nothing else, I can just retrofit a shoulder strap onto the post. I've heard it's possible. Seat belts would make things 200% easier; then again, nothing about this project has been easy.
I'm also concerned about the leg room I'll have (rather, the lack of leg room) if I get a seat that is too deep or thick. Pushing the clutch might be difficult.
These are things that I should have thought of before I bought the truck, but I was excited and bought the first one I saw...
So here's the question: will a newer F150 bench seat with the integrated head rest fit in my F100? If anyone has done it, how much leg room do you have? If it doesn't fit, any seats out there that might?
I looked around at shop4seats.com and found a seat with a headrest (with a $900 price tag). Of course it said that they suggested a low-back seat to maximize cab space. There were some with integrated seat belts, but those were way out of my price range.

Up to a 96 will bolt tight in using your old sliders on the newer year seat frame. Newer seat like a 85 to 95 could have a built in headrest and a fold down arm rest in the middle??
You can get a shoulder seat belt set up from a 79 and install it in the B pillar, you will have to cut a hole to make it look OEM, and use the 79 reel cover, but it can be done.
A 92,93,94, is not to thick in the back, you should be ok.

Perfect! That answers my question beautifully!
I got rid of the brackets along with the seat... it was a while ago, so I don't exactly remember why... I think someone did a modification to the seat so a different bracket would fit, but failed miserably. I don't quite remember, but I think the front holes didn't line up so the front of the seat wasn't bolted down.
Now the problem is finding one of these seats. Seats in general are nearly impossible to find where I am.
Thank you very much!

What Arizona does not have junk yards or the Craigslist? lol I am sure you can locate a set of original seat slider rails.
A good to great condition seat from a 80's ish to 90's and up could be hard to do, but I am sure that some JY in your area has one cheaper than those high dollar other ones.

On Craigslist, I found only one possibility. A parting out '92; description says seat is good. The post is 2 months old, however. I haven't looked at any junk yards yet. The problem with those is that Arizona is so sunny and hot, I doubt the seats would have held up there unless they were, for some reason, covered.
If I can find a truck being parted out, I could get the sliders too.
I'm very picky about seats :P

I'm in northwest of Tucson. I don't mind driving a little bit. The money I pay for gas would be way less than what I would pay to buy one of these things. But I'm not so sure yours would work for me. Like I said, I'm a tall guy so I need one with a head rest so that I don't hurt myself in a rear end collision. Thanks though!
