How many miles are on your 5.0?
I have had my 2012 f150 stx 4x4 for one year now and it has a total of 54503 miles. I love my truck! Just curious to see how many miles are on yours? I have heard many of these engines go at 100000 thousand miles. I have done all the maintenance recommended. I had a head replaced at 49000 miles.
Thanks!!

2012 2wd 157" WB Super Crew Lariat bought new right after Christmas 2012. It'll turn 70,000 miles on the way home this evening. 1st oil change at 5000 miles and since then I've used 10,000 miles as my oil change interval. Mobil1 full synthetic in 5w-20 only. It uses very little, if any, oil between those 10,000 mile oil changes. Still running the original Michelins and I estimate they'll go to 90,000 miles or so. Fuel mileage has averaged just over 19mpg for those 70,000 miles. I had one warranty repair on the truck where they added the miracle "blue grease" to the drive shaft to cure a slight bump as the truck left a stop. I've changed the air filter twice, installed new wiper blades once and poured a gallon or two of windshield washer fluid in.
Nothing else.

Approximately 26,700 mi; still a adolescent, i know. First oil change at 5,000. I use Royal Purple full synthetic oil. I use the Intelligent Oil Monitoring system to tell me when to change it. I usually get about 8500, but change it at about 10% (I tow quite a bit but only drive 2.8 mi to work each way; both cause the computer to recommend a change short of 10,000 mi). It uses no oil; the level is always at the same spot on the dipstick. No issues.

2011 Scab XLT 4x4. Bought new 9/30/11. It now has 88,500 mi. on it with zero engine issues. I changed the oil and filter at 2500 miles. Since then, I go by the oil life monitor. I change it just short of 10,000 miles. Kendall GT-1 semi synthetic 5W-20, Motorcraft filters. It usually needs a quart at about 7,000 miles after changing.
Great engine, great truck.

2013 5.0. 31k miles. I've change the oil every 5k with motorcraft oil and filters and did tire rotations at the same time. Changed the air filter at 25k.
Now for the "fun" stuff: have had to had the rotors turned twice, the molded lead-frame replaced in the transmission for high gear engagement from a stop, the rear pinion seal replaced from leaking and TSB for rear end click when shifting to drive. The engine has also developed the dreaded "phantom tick".
As a note, my truck does not see a hard life. It is my personal truck and has only seen a trailer once and mostly highway use. Will probably drive it until right before my power train warranty runs out and trade it in or sell it. I've been a diehard Ford fan all my life however, I have been disappointed with the quality of this truck. Perhaps I just got a lemon...
Can you elaborate on what the problem was and why a cylinder head was replaced? Having a head replaced isn't exactly a "normal" thing...

'13 STX 5.0 4x4 126" WB, just about to hit 17k. Bought it Memorial Day weekend 2014. Oil change after first 1k, again at 5k with Motorcraft 5w20 blend, and at 10k & 15k used Mobil1 0W-20. Very random & infrequent clunk when shifting from P to R or between R and D. Only other issue I had was a taglight bulb socket that leaked water & corroded. Fixed the socket under warranty without issue, and neither I nor the tech could reproduce the clunk during my visit to the dealer.
I probably beat the hell out of it. I hold it on the floorboard through the top of 2nd gear at least once a day, usually more. And up until a month ago when my commute changed, it would see 100mph ~3 times a week.
