I will say this to save anyone that's never done this a little money. The spray will not last as long. And I hate paying for it. I've been clay baring for years, and I mix up my own solution. Just water and dawn liquid dish soap in a spray bottle.

Work in small areas and keep it wet, those are key.

I am needing to tackle this beast of a job before winter gets here, not sure when I will get it done with the new baby here now.

X2. That's one reason why it takes so darn long.

Just got my Absolute Performance intake in today along with a much needed restock of projector retrofit parts to finish up some builds.
I decided to install it and I will take it off at a later date to get it powder coated once I figure out the color I am going to be doing.

Ordered a set of Conductor Special 540 train horns from Hornblasters this week. I will be fabricating a custom mounting plate for the horns and compressor as well as getting my company logo water jetted out of aluminum then getting both pieces powder coated and painting the train horns to match my powder coat color.

Great looking build going on. I like both of the trucks I have seen. Question, on the older 05-07 body style truck I saw the newer mirrors with the tops painted white. Skull caps or whatever they call them. Did they come painted or did you have them painted. I really want to do this to my truck. Thinking about painting them myself. Not sure.

You can order the mirrors from 1A Auto vendor on here and you should receive chrome and paint to match caps. PTM caps are usually black.

I personally painted mine. Taped off the cap of the mirrors, sanded them with 400 grit to make it smooth and painted them with a custom mixed can of PPG single stage paint. I did 3 coats, but on my 15' I am going to do the same prep work and then sand the paint down so that they will be all smooth. I had slight bumps still from the textured finish.

Do you know if they sell just the paint to match caps? I already have the mirrors.

I might take this route. I just want them to look good. Not like some guy sanded and painted his mirrors if you know what I mean.

Trust me it does look good. If you have aftermarket mirrors more than likely your caps are not removable. Just tap them off and do what I did and the outcome will look great.

If you want to reply back with your year series of your truck and all of the features that your mirrors currently have from the factory, I can see if I can match up a set of PTM tow mirrors for you.

Tell me about the x4 w/custom tunes? I'm sure it effects your warranty and is it better than a custom dyno tune?
Thanks

I went with custom tunes and deleted all the emissions stuff so that it would be more reliable. The main reason these trucks have issues is from all that crap they put on it from factory so I got rid of it. The custom tunes I got from Ben have tow, performance and race tunes. I couldn't tell you whether or not they're better than a dyno tune but so far I am more than pleased with the power increase, its insane how quick these trucks are, even without the tune but the tune really unleashes its full potential.
